Recent NVIDIA drivers are causing issues for Proton

525 driver works sooo much better even just on desktop, that's why I don't upgrade to 535. Tried all the updates there was for 535, but it still has the same issues.

Quoting: constAll these games replicating the PS1 era wipeouts are sadly not for me.
Somehow, wipeout hd/fury for PS3 has become my wipeout of choice. Is any of the available clones close to that gameplay feel?
Check out BallisticNG on Steam! This game is a passion project, spiritual successor of WipeOut and it definitely slaps! And costs almost nothing (I have got it for free - it was free game in beta years ago and stayed on my account). And the best part is, it's still updated regularly. Amazing project. I'm telling this, because I don't see a point in reverse engineering WipeOut, when we have BallisticNG, seriously :D It has even cockpit view and VR support. Crazy! And you can choose gameplay style, like old WipeOuts, or these modern. But still, it definitely feels more like the older iterations. Aaand, it has modding support with steam workshop, so (i think) you can change this game into WipeOut Fury if you need and know how ;) Pure labor of love. Devs like these should be supported. Period.

Quoting: JarmerMan, don't tempt me! I shouldn't spend another umpteen hours modding the game and then never playing it, should I?!?!?!?!?
Haha, that's exact same thing for me xD EVERY TIME!

Quoting: hardpenguinI played it just recently and this game has not aged well 😅
Yeah, the same thing with my try. Controls, mechanics etc. Just terrible. Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 for example aged much better. Seriously.

Flathub app store for Linux and Steam Deck gets overhauled

To be honest, Flatpak is awesome, but in the same time I hate it :P It updates almost every day, especially "org.Freedesktop.Platform", and files for nvidia driver etc. And it is aroud 400-800Mb every time. Daaamn. It's so frustrating, because I have to use the internet which has limited data usage. I know, I don't have to update this, but...

The new Dead Space is sadly a great big mess on Steam Deck
28 Jan 2023 at 1:52 am UTC

In my opinion:
Dead Space Remake uses totally new tech, considering graphics. I think, we need to wait for Steam Deck 2, with newer hardware to perform at least reasonable frame rates and so on. Personally, considering Steam Deck itself, I thought to myself:
"Okay, I'll wait for Steam Deck 2, and then I'll buy this toy for grow ups!".
It is first iteration, technical demo, or something - in my opinion. Next generation of Steam Deck will definitely kick arse! And to be honest - all of us know, that Steam Deck 2 (or whatever they will name it), will be A THING!

My game of the year 2022 is the Steam Deck
21 Dec 2022 at 12:46 am UTC

For me, the best game of the year is Hades. I refused to try this game, because it was for me some mainstream, almost AAA game, and even the fact that I am HUGE fan of rogue-likes, did not help in this case. Well, then I thought to mysellf... I'll try it eventually. And daaamn, this game is f**ing masterpiece action rogue-like! The story, graphics, MUSIC, gameplay, replayability, main character, the story, the story and the story. And it works without issues on Linux (Proton of course) out of the box. I want to beat myself to death, for not trying it earlier xD Heh. Silly me.

Xfce 4.18 desktop is finally here

Now I have a little bit stronger PC, so I chose Cinnamon, and love it even more for its eyecandy, and the same level of functionality as XFCE. But I always loved XFCE and it will always have special place in my heart :) Glad to see it's still kicking

Chained Echoes is as close as you can get to retro-styled RPG perfection
13 Dec 2022 at 4:03 pm UTC

I understand why new JRPGs do that, but... random encounters is the thing I always really liked in this genre
To be honest, for me good jrpg MUST HAVE two things: random encounters and save points ;) If I see the game advertises itself like jrpg and says it has no random encounters, I almost always skip it xD
The same was with Chained Echoes, when I have seen it on Steam... but I think you convinced me with this gameplay :)
