Quoting: GuestIt's tricky and costly for me. IF the game is one I'll play on the Steam Deck then I obviously buy it on Steam...it's just too easy, but then I tend to add the game to my wishlist at GoG and when the price is low enough I plan to buy it on GoG to create an offline back for future game preservation playing. If it's a game I will only ever play on my PC, then I snag it on GoG only. There is no need to rebuy a game on GOG just to have an offline backup. For Steam games, you can also make a backup of your "common" folder (and maybe "compatdata" for non native games), and you're good to go.
Being able to have an offline backup of a game (even if only Windows), is very important to me...I am also enjoying my old NES games now thanks to owning the physical game and getting an Analogue NT Mini a while back, and it got me think about what if I want to play a game (backlog or replay) in 10, 20, 30 years....will Steam be around?
P.S. Yes, I have an older computer and my current computer that I plan to keep alive and drivers back up offline for future needs.

As far as I remember, you can still play offline after logging in once. But I didn't have a valid MS Account at that time anyway.

Quoting: 2fastHunterI really wanted to try this one on the free to play weekend. It worked like this:I tried the game on the free weekend, too - and had the same issue.
- Download
- Start the game
- Great! It works so far.
- "Before you continue, please Login with your Microsoft Account"
- Delete from SSD
I really hoped, that after this Games for Windows live - disaster, Microsoft has learned something.

Quoting: NexxticAs long as the is good gyro controls, I can do without aim assist. :grin:Quoting: cdnr1steam deck compatible ?it sort-of works as is, but many QoL (like aim assist) are missing in the current build. I'm expecting the game to be playable on a Steam Deck with proper aim assist by the time we launch the full game.

Don't expect GOG to support the Steam Deck

If GOG wants to profit from the Steam Deck, I would expect them to offer at least some basic integration tools. Installing GOG in its current state on the Steam Deck is like buying a Ferrari and installing a two-stroke engine in it.

Quoting: Alm888So, yes, GOG is correct, one will be able to play GOG's amazing library on Steam Deck. Even if the solution is not for said one's taste.Of course you will be able to play your GOG Games on Steam Deck (who had a doubt about that anyway)... if you don't mind fiddling around in Desktop Mode on a tiny screen, with no regular mouse, no dynamic cloud sync, limited controller support (unless you add your games to Steam). No thanks, that's not the OOTB experience I'm looking for.

Valve clarifies how they test Native Linux or Proton for Steam Deck

Even if the game runs "good enough" with the native version, I think they still will prefer Proton as it seems to be more efficient and should draw less power from the battery.
It could also be because of the controller support. I don't know about Dying Light, but controller support in the native version of Trine is pretty much broken, while in Proton it works as expected.

Quoting: slaapliedjeHuh, Dying Light ran awesome natively for me. Granted I don't know if running under Proton makes it run better, as I had no reason to test it.It definitely does run better in Proton, see Liams and Xpanders videos on youtube:

Quoting: BeamboomHere's hoping that this will also make Cyberpunk 2077 work again, after the massive patch yesterday...!I managed to get this game working with the real tone cable, that was about about half a year ago. Of course I had to do all the tricks recommended on protondb, but I don't remember what I did exactly. Anyways, good thing is that it seems do be easier to set up now. Keep rocking!
Quoting: mZSq7Fq3qsHope that they can get that USB-chord thingy working so that I can plug in my quitar.Ah! Good point! I sincerely hope so too! I've mentally put Rocksmith into the "not working" category due to that USB issue.
Would be fantastic if that one is working, then there'll be rockin' in my cave. :)

Many more of my native games just work better with Proton, for example Dead Island, Dying Light, Trine, ETS 2, Thalos Principle.

Quoting: pete910Never had a native break, Only problem I have had is them abandoning them! Am looking at you Gearbox !!This is strange, my experience with BL 2 is quite exactly the opposite. I was surprised to see that Proton now even manages to show the desktop launcher (I once had forgotten to switch that launcher files). Performance was way better with Proton, and I also noticed that some effects seem to be missing in the native version, which looked kind of dull in comparison.
Cant say I've had a lot of luck with proton on native builds. I have tried running borderlands 2 through proton but it's a terrible experience compared to the native.

I wonder why Ghostrunner and Hades are not in the verified list, as Valve has already shown them as verified here [External Link].
Edit: Both games are on the verified list now.
