Splitgate update out adding mantling, optimizations, a Quick Play option and more

Ah, that's been bugging me a lot on that map, pantheon. Usually I just bounce off the platform and try to shoot a portal.

It's a nice fix, though they could also have lowered the bridges, or made the portal surfaces in the side bunkers more visible. At least this is a generic fix for that often-frustrating situation.

I had a bit of graphical corruption on Club silo, and karman station in the main menu (looked like uninitialized-to-zero buffers). I hope this is fixed, we'll see.

Looks like they lost a lot of players [External Link] (though they say they're doing well on ps4), but that didn't stop the annoyingly slow server capacity check on login.

I also have a few other gripes with it:
  • confusing menu, especially slow to navigate cosmetics and filter those that you own

  • no dedicated server available

  • mandatory Steam connection, no LAN or offline mode that I know, which makes it a bad proposition for LAN

Despite this, I still enjoy the gameplay, though it could be perfectible.

As usual, here's a ref code (I swear I do not post on purpose, it's just that I am playing this game a lot these days, so that makes me want to comment): E5YY8B

Looks like Valve sent out quite a lot of Steam Deck developer kits

Also the official X-Plane account showing a shot of it at the beach.
The beach looks obviously faked on a monitor, you can see the pixels and "screen door" (Moiré) effects on the sky.

The question to you: what will be the first game you play on the Steam Deck when it arrives? It's a question that seems easy but I've been asking it myself and I'm completely lost.
Probably some mindustry, but I would like to use it on the go to try and finish my backlog at some point. I have plenty of half-finished games I could play while traveling:
- Nier: Automata
- Hollow Knight
- Bastion & Transistor

To only name a few.

I like the thought of having a Steam Deck. Next time I have an issue with a game, I can just test on it instead of reporting "I have an issue on Arch Linux" and getting the usual "Unsuported Distro" answer.

BattlEye confirms Linux support for Steam Deck, will be opt-in like Easy Anti-Cheat

we will also support the upcoming Steam Deck (Proton)
It really does sound like they will have a proprietary module on the steam deck with in-kernel anti-cheat, not sure we'll be able to use that on our computers?

help migrating the game’s outdated rendering system to a newer API such as OpenGL or Vulkan.
That sounds quite interesting, is there more info on this somewhere? Why not just plain SDL2? Is the game way too complex?

Quoting: CutchuSlowI have a third party PS3 controller with buttons on the back. Got that way before 2013.
What is the brand? It could actually help if you find mention of it from before 2013 or 2011, like the website you might have ordered from. I also quoted that one from scuf gaming, but missed that earlier review.

Splitgate to remain in Open Beta 'for the foreseeable future', adds 2v2 Ranked mode

Quoting: WilldrickAre you guys able to play the native version? I used to run it via Proton but it seems that the EQU8 anticheat thingy now is blocking us.

Native is giving me a UE4 crash reporter dialog instantly, and discord is full
I experience crashes and freezes sometimes, but otherwise it's running fine natively (AMD/flatpak, see my profile info).

Also, the beta playlist ends on the 24th of August.

I've been playing it a lot recently, it's quite fun. If anyone wants a referral code, here's mine: E5YY8B ;)

Wow, it's gorgeous. Reminds me a bit of void bastards in some way, though void bastards got repetitive rather quickly, so I hope there's a lot of various content in this one!

I had a look at their steam page though, and the flashlight could be improved... Perhaps with a raytracing mod at some point? :P
