This is huge, especially the bit about they releasing it on flathub.
I wish they built it for ARM as well, though maybe it is usable in qemu-binfmt? Is it using HW-accelerated decoding with VA-API or similar?
I also wouldn't be surprised if it ends up reverse-engineered.

Wow, they announce a story mode for Annie.
A bit surprised they went this route. Doesn't this risk alienating users that paid for the DLC and would have had them for free had they waited a bit?

Valve help developers into adding more controller support with new stats

I wonder if just having a controller plugged in makes it a "controller session"? I guess they were careful about that.
Seeing Steam promote its Input API is awesome! Some games are just horrible to play without that configuration panel. And some also have truly horrible keyboard support (Halo: MCC for instance), so having keyboard input go trough Steam input API could be a boon for these as well.
A shame we didn't get to see the Xbox 360/ Xbox One split, but I don't expect it to be much different from the one here.

Quoting: jrtIt's pretty obvious at this point that Valve has everything needed to make an optional cloud gaming subscription if they want to.Yes, there's just a few missing pieces of the puzzle: I assume they're now working on getting this to work in web browsers?

Instead, find a place with a relatively stable internet connection and electricity. Optionally buy a domain name (€ 3-10 depending on the domain). Find an old computer lying around (laptops are nice as they have a battery, and use less power: about 10€/year where I live) and install yunohost [External Link] on it. Pick the services you need. Enjoy. You can share the services (and costs) with your friends and family, it doesn't take that much maintenance, and you'll be doing a favor to your community.
Having your own domain name is quite liberating, as it allows you to switch providers (be it google, protonmail, another, your private VPS or your own server) if you want to. But self-hosting isn't much harder, and a domain name is one of the most expensive parts.

Quoting: psy-qFor those interested in alternatives, Framasoft in France runs a whole bunch of Google-free services [External Link], all of which you can also host yourself.Well, they kind of stopped [External Link] because the service was originally created to encourage self-hosting, and people were just using their services.

I realize you can't imagine listing every desktop environment, but I would like sway to be included (maybe just "sway/wlroots-based). Just curious how many fellow users there are, and how the numbers compare against other wayland compositors.
Tiling vs non-tiling could be interesting also. "Do you feel comfortable with the terminal" is another thing I'd be interested in.
Some of these could be one-time questions, instead of recurring. I don't know :)

And if you don't link your main account, there wouldn't be much data available to them in the first place :)

Quoting: tuubiI think they just want some newsletter subscriber, really.Quoting: thoughtfulhippoSo they just want your data. Nah, not worth it to me.Quoting: tuubiI think the game only activates on the account you link. No, they give you the key directly and a convenient 'Redeem' button that just links to the Steam register key page.

Steamworks gets Denuvo Anti-Cheat, here's what Irdeto say about Linux support

Same point for the 90s : multiplayer was kinda rare, besides local-only. Nowadays, most games implement some sort of multiplayer, especially casual ones, integrated with social media.

Quoting: ElectricPrismYeah, but you currently can't get achievements in MCC, nor ranking and some unlocks I think. If only there was local multiplayer!Quoting: Eike"Denuvo Anti-Cheat will not prohibit Linux users from accessing single-player and non-competitive multiplayer features of their games"Incredible, It's almost as if they understand Anti-Cheat should not necessarily be ANTI-CONSUMER too. Mind = Blown
Ain't it great? It's anti-cheat - not anti-DRM! - and will not prohibit single player stuff!?!
I much prefer games that do it like Halo MCC where you literally are given the choice as consumer if you want to launch with anticheat disabled ( which I do so I can play on custom servers )
It's funny looking back, back in the 90s "cheats" used to be a "feature" you literally paid extra money for a players guide or game shark or whatever to get special new capabilities.

I just tried a couple tricks for PA, to no avail, like pretending [External Link] to be an Intel GPU. This seems to be our best bet [External Link] for now.

Quoting: Dennis_PayneHmm, D-bus exists on windows as well (if you bring your own). Have a standalone GUI to configure it if you must, leave the option to have a config file: I migrate those across my PCs :)Quoting: MaathI wonder, why does this need a launcher to be able to publish your achievements to hubzilla? Why can't it just read a config file in ~/.config/gamerzilla/ ?It could be setup that way. How would you configure it? I don't like telling people to manually edit a file. I don't think most games are going to want to include a configuration screen for it. I have wondered about the possibility of making it some sort of service in the desktop. What exact technology would be used for that I don't know? I want to support Windows as well so any solution needs to have an answer for that. (It doesn't have to be the exact same answer but more code to maintain is a minus.)
