I realize you're able to bring the keyboard up in that fashion, but as soon as I attempt to type the keyboard interface locks up and the pad becomes unresponsive.

I've given up on the pad now anyway. but thanks for the comment.

Looks like a funny little puzzle game. The gameplay reminds me of DROD. I'll give it a try, I guess.

In German it's Vogel. I'm pretty sure this is a Danish game, at least Scandinavian. Or they just borrowed the name ;-)

You are of course correct about the German spelling, not sure what happened in my brain there

Children, especially in conjunction with the word young, are supposed not to stick to TV and gaming. Take them outside and play and explore the world with them then just going for the comfortable way to make them being silenced because they're occupied by gaming.

Kids want to have fun as well, you know? Kicking them out so that you can enjoy silence at home is not always the best option. Games are great when the weather is foul.

Quoting: Lakorta
Quoting: MayeulCLooks like some people went all the way to reverse engineer the steam platform: https://github.com/SteamRE/SteamKit

They also have a "Depot Downloader". Which makes it a fully open-source (afaik) way to download steam games. Now, if only we could get a shim to make wine games work with the Linux client, that would be great :)

Someone tried to do something like that once (https://github.com/sirnuke/steambridge. Unfortunately that project is dead (also I never tried it out so I don't know how well it worked).

Ah, thanks, I've been trying to find again the name of that project for quite some time. Starred it. It's a shame the project has been discontinued, though.

God you sound like my mother as of 20 years ago "go outside and kick a ball like a healthy kids, or you with get square eyes"

Such an medieval attitude, not every one dreams of becoming a athlete -and that's ok -kids drawn to books or computer games are no worse of for being allowed to spend some of their time with such activists

Quoting: Kithop...did they finally fix HID support? Like, can I use a controller to fly a chopper without right trigger being double-mapped to yaw right and 'fire guns', with no way to remap it? :p

Basically this is because we are currently limited to XInput type support, which only covers gamepads with Xbox controller like functionality. Flight sticks and wheels are generally more extensive DirectInput type devices.

For the more extensive controls to work we would have to work on supporting joysticks at a much lower level, which is difficult.

That's unfortunate. Here i was thinking for a moment "Oh, doesn't SDL basically give that for free?" but then remembered this is kind of a Wine style wrapper, and it probably only has Xinput support.

I've been wanting to start up a wiki for Linux Games with controller support. I can personally test Steam Controller, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, X52 Pro, Logitech G27, and I even have an Atari Jaguar -> USB adapter along with a DB9 one for Sega / Atari / Commodore controllers :) OH, let's not forget my Mayflash F300 which can emulate either DirectInput or Xinput.

Quoting: burningserenityThis looks and sounds like they made a full game of KOTOR's swoop bike races. Hopefully the devs support it with more content during its life cycle.

Thank you! We are currently supporting the game with a few issues some players have found, and if the interest and sales allow, we would love to support this with new levels and features.

Was I right? Turns out I had just enough in my Steam Wallet, so I bought it! You nailed the sense of speed. Are there any plans for multiplayer?

Quoting: ImFromMostonOh right.. so it works flawless for everybody. So when you minimize steam big picture and decide to use a browser etc it does not lock up. That must be nice because for me using the controller on the desktop is broken. regardless of whether steam is in big picture mode or desktop.
Nope, never had that. See if you can find your issue on the bud tracker (and if not, do report it).

Quoting: ImFromMostonOh I can use it as a mouse but thats not much use if you can't input text with it.
Oh but you can! Click down on the joystick for text input. ;)

The 'Hurricane Relief Bundle' on itch has a few Linux games
By burningserenity, 16 September 2017 at 3:18 am UTC

The 1% only become as wealthy as they are by investing in what people will consume. Ultimately, it is up to all of is as consumers to demand products that make the world better in the long run, and those financing will follow suit.

Assuming human activity really is making the world more prone to natural disaster, the rich are not the primary cause, just the main beneficiaries. If a thief ransacks my house, but I have my stuff insured for double what I paid for it, does that make the theft my fault?

Anyway, thinking for the long term is certainly a good thing, but people need help in the moment, too. Thus we have disaster relief funds. If you'd rather be indignant than contribute, that's your right, but it comes off as callousness masquerading as enlightenment.

Quoting: ShmerlThis sounds unprofessional to me.
No, not really. Deadline is nearing, and as always there are lots of things to be done, and managers are starting to look for things to cut to meet the deadline. Does not necessarily mean that Linux is canceled, but that it has been reduced in priority in favor of some contractual obligations they need to meet.

It's no insider knowledge or anything, just my experience with how software projects tend to work.

I'm not so sure the two are mutually exclusive. The fact that software development tends to work like that does not negate the fact that it's unprofessional to promise a product and then not deliver it as promised. In other industries, that wouldn't be acceptable, and customers would switch to the competition.
