Like I said, I already bit the bullet, already had to play Hollow Knight and Dead Cells on Proton, only Blasphemous 1 on native. I know what I'm "missing"...

Quoting: Liam DaweNah man, I'm not missing out. These days, one has to check not only the ProtonDB rating of a game, but the latest reviews in the ProtonDB page, to see if something broke in the last patch. More relevant with newly released games, exactly like the one we're talking about. I only don't want to criticize specifically Games' Kitchen, because they have a really good history of little to no bugs.Quoting: Linux_RocksHopefully we get a native Linux version of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Team Reptile has been great about making them, and all their other games on Steam have them. I bought it on Steam vs the Switch because of that reason.Platinum on ProtonDB and Steam Deck Verified. Just sounds like you're missing out if you actually wanted to play it.
Quoting: ElamanOpiskelijaIn many ways, Linux gaming is moving back and forward at the same time.Only if you refuse to use Proton for whatever reason. Linux gaming is constantly moving forward thanks to it. The point is to play more games and Proton is a constant win.

Hollow Knight I had to play on Proton, Dead Cells I had to play on Proton. Learning that Blasphemous 2 is not native was so disappointing...
Same goes with Blasphemous 2 as well. As the first game has a native Linux version.
I know Proton works great, and call me a stickler. But I'll always prefer native Linux support for games. I also like that native Apple Silicon versions of games are coming to Steam sometimes too.

This is the team (now Future Club) which used to have some serious trouble with their previous boss, right?
First of all, we can assume that the development team have not been completely in line with the original direction to begin with, given the situation, and given that they renamed themselves (their dev team's name) afterwards.
Second and maybe most important, the game has been doing well, the player numbers are looking pretty stellar for the game, I can tell you I had no problems finding a match last year with one fifth of the player count that they have right now (probably good crossplay implementation). Plus being one of the official games in Evo kind of helped. In order to get more popular and for certain events, they have to clean their act, so this may be the way forward.

1-2h battery...
I hate to bring this up, but my also-ASUS laptop with Fedora can play most games at 15W TDP, and that lasts me definitely longer than 2 hours.

Arcane Wilds kicks off with some refreshing RTS ideas

You have to look at smaller studios, like the ones doing Riftbreaker and Age of Darkness, which by the way are both primarily single-player.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPI wonder when RTS developers will get around to targeting the (clearly larger) pool of single player RTS gamers again with a title that offers a bit more replayability than "play through campaign once".The investment is not worth it anymore. Even the impact of Age of Empires 4 has been marginal, in the context of X-Box Studios games. There won't be a big production coming from big studios anymore.

Good that the GPD guys warned us early enough that this Steam Deck thing was never going to catch on. "Only" 3 million? peanuts, I say. Peanuts!
Asus announce the ROG Ally gaming handheld

I have a Zephyrus 14 with Fedora on it, that thing can play most games easily even at 15W TDP and let me tell you, that battery at 15W TDP is really, really respectable ...

Quoting: UberkeyserThis may well be the case, after all, Asus have been doing so well in the laptop market that I wouldn't be surprised if this "handheld" comes with a brick of the same size. On the other hand, if some company can beat the specs of all other portables, that is Asus.Windows 11 on the device will completely spoil the unit as a handheld device. It may well end up like the last time ASUS came up with an innovative Linux product; the EeePC (aka netbook):
Back in 2007 it originally came out with a customized Linux desktop that catered for the low spec CPU, the tiny SSDa and small screen.
Actually a really sweet degin. Done right in the first place, but unfortunately just a bit ahead of its time (due to no broadband wireless Internet yet)
Then the people complained that they wanted Windows on it.
That time ASUS took the time to explain that the device needs a special desktop for the low spec CPU, tiny SSD and the small screen.
People refused to think and still demanded Windows.
So ASUS evetually shipped EeePCs with Windows.
People's reaction: Oi, we dont like this. Windows does not work well with the low spec CPU, the tiny SSD the small screen...
So ASUS incrased CPU, SSD, sceen... and price... to adjust to the needs of Windows, essentially killing the original idea of a netbook.... but it rans Windows well.
So, for this ASUS product they skipped the initial stage where they made it right and take the shortcut directly down the wrong path.
Eventually there will be a ROG Ally 2, which has a 22 inch screen, that can be folded over a full mechanical keyboard, 4 kg weight, etc,... essentially killing the idea of a handheld console..... but it will runs Windows well :P

Great video!
Even I am impressed with the progress, and I tried it out not so long ago. The graphics and smoothness are significantly improved, and very soon the only thing holding Forged Alliance will be the lower hardware requirements (because it is so much older).
Again, no matter how you think that Forged Alliance is the best game of all time: the reality is that development on that game pretty much stopped at 2007 and the work on BAR, same as with 0AD, just keeps going and going. It is not crazy to bet on a community project, it is in fact betting on the winning horse.

I have said this before, and I'll say it again: Forged Alliance might be an amazing game, but its development ended.
The development on BAR, on the other hand, keeps going, and going ... like 0AD, maybe it doesn't sound so laughable anymore? You guys watch.
