Heroic Games Launcher now on Flathub, even easier to run Epic Games on Steam Deck

download vcredist x86 and x64, try version 2012, 2015 from Microsoft website and then go to the game settings in Heroic > Run Exe on Prefix and then select those downloaded files.
This will install Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime on the prefix and might fix the issue.

Quoting: stylonWorth a try, although I also tried installing it via Lutris last night and got the exact same error so maybe there's something about the Epic version that breaks it? Everything else I've tried so far works. :unsure:Check if on the installed folder, the game folder itself, you can find some vcredist file, if not

Not all controllers are supported ofc, but the most common like X360, Xone, DualShock, DualSense and the one from gamecube are. :)

Quoting: BrocccolliIt looks like they may have also added support for controller navigation! I haven't been able to test this yet though.Yes, controller navigation was implemented some time ago but some people asked for an option to disable it so we added it on the new version.

Heroic Games Launcher for Epic and GOG on Linux and Steam Deck new Beta available

If you check the logs from GOGDL on Heroic for installing, anything, no token is shown so we just forgot to close that issue.
Also, the information was misleading like I told on the comment, Heroic do not receive username and password input since its all on the webview, so heroic doesn't save any credentiasl besides the token that is needed to download the games.
And the error was on OUR side on the releases note that put it in the wrong way.

Quoting: catbox_fugueI removed it from the Releases note since I removed all the Tech and Refactor stuff, focusing more on Bug fixes and improvements in UI/UX.Quoting: fearnflavioOne note about the 'user credentials are no longer stored in plain text':what on the release notes says this?
This was related only to GOG and it's NOT the username and password, but only the token generated after login and that was used to download the games

i dont see any changes to this behavior reported here:
https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/HeroicGamesLauncher/issues/1020 [External Link]
i can see where the log parity [improvement] between legendary and gogdl could fix this
legendary does not report epic api tokens, gogdl does in the log output
https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/heroic-gogdl [External Link]
so, it's not been fixed?

Quoting: constI'm currently considering buying Cyberpunk2077 from GOG, as it's a LOT cheaper from there then from Steam. How much hassle will that be / are there any caveats other then having to install a launcher like Heroic?I have finished Cyberpunk 2077 from GOG on Heroic and I used Proton Experimental. Worked perfectly with RTX and DLSS using a 3060ti.
Also, is heroic really only for these two services or is it possible to sideload apps from other sources? EDIT: Just saw this is a planned feature, sorry.

One note about the 'user credentials are no longer stored in plain text':

Just making it clear :D

Quoting: icedfiendGreat work! I was just wondering how to do this same exact thing but for plain desktop linux a few days ago... I will give it a try during the weekend. Some questions come to mind though...To use outside of Steam Deck just follow the tutorial on Heroic Wiki. Then you will need only HBL to be downloaded.
- Why the need to download the legendary client? Isn't the one supplied by Heroic Games Launcher enough? It can be found at /opt/Heroic/resources/app.asar.unpacked/build/bin/linux/legendary (installed from AUR).
- Also, would installing the legendary client from AUR work? (it's located in /usr/bin/legendary)
Using any of those options would keep the client updated easily. In case the manual download is needed, I found out that
wget https://github.com/derrod/legendary/releases/latest/download/legendary
will get the latest binary available (for linux in this case) as long as the latest release is tagged as such.
I recently discovered this site and youtube channel and been following your Steam Deck coverage and I must say it's been great... Can't wait to get mine :D
Keep up with the good work!
