Survival game Rust adds female player models, assigns gender to Steam accounts at random

We want (some) computer games to be seen as art?
Well then, art is not always comfortable.
(*) if they find this a concern at all

Quoting: KimyrielleAnd really, so far I haven't heard a reason to implement such a feature that I wouldn't immediately dismiss as completely and utterly stupid. The reason quite obviously is to show male players(*) what discomfort female players(*) are facing most of the time.

Like Rust forces half of the people to use the another gender.
If you don't happen to be male, you'll know that feeling for sure.

Quoting: wintermuteAnd for all of those, either male or female players are forced to use the another gender.Quoting: legluondunetIn a video game we should be able to choose the gender, race, type of creature , hair color ... we want. Why? Many of the best videogames give you no choice about player character at all. Think about the Half Life, Bioshock or Tomb Raider franchises.

It seems like you need to use early access if you're into the genre.

Quoting: KeyrockSomewhat off-topic, but I wonder how many of the 800 bajillion early access survival games will ever make it out of early access and have a full release? 5%? 3%?Same here. And I've got the feeling, if it ever happens, most players will be already "through" with it by then.

How to tell what Steam games work on Linux & SteamOS, steamplay does not mean Linux support

I still wonder if anybody has an example of a game on Steam supporting several platforms but not SteamPlay?

Quoting: liamdaweIf you buy a Steam Play title on Windows, you can play it on Mac and Linux and so on.... if it happens to be available for Mac or Linux. SteamPlay does not guarantee either.(*)

AFAIR there is at least one game on several platforms that supports several platforms (Win and Mac?) but does not support SteamPlay, but I cannot find it ATM.
11 Apr 2016 at 6:38 am UTC
Quoting: HoriSo it's a redundant waste of space... We can already find what other platforms are supported without a repurchase simply by looking a few pixels to the left of that label :DErm... no. SteamPlay does not tell you which platforms are supported. It only implies that it will be at least two, beecause otherwise, SteamPlay would make no sense. SteamPlay means that you can buy once and play on all supported platforms without rebuying, that's it, no more, no less.

Quoting: Mountain ManI thought the Tux icon was perfect, but I understand that Valve has a vested interest in pushing their own branded Linux distro, and I don't have a problem with that. However, they really need to brand their OS with something more distinctive than the generic Steam logo. Something like this:I like these,
