The interesting survival game 'Raft' has dropped Linux support

Tremendously disappointing to lose a game with this much potential. I've played a good deal of it in the previous state, and it's got a solid foundation (well, figuratively at least). I guess the option is still there to run it in Wine, but I don't really consider that a good option by any means.

I really hope they reconsider. As far as good games on Itch goes, this is a real loss.

Yooka-Laylee has revealed multiplayer in a new trailer

I really, really hope that those voices are skippable, or there's an option to turn them off. As fantastic as the rest of the game is looking, I find that one thing tremendously irritating.

A note about the sources of our information and how we really don't rip others off

If I don't, this is how myself and GOL end up being recognised in the wider community, because these assholes get upvoted continuously until I refute their claims. In short, it would be a disaster for relations.

I think it's also a matter for the wider Linux reporting and blogging community. For all the gains of Linux, we're still a relatively small pond. So if it weren't GoL catching this heat, sooner or later it'd be one of the other sites. Letting this sort of thing stand uncorrected isn't good for the Linux community as a whole.

The open source itch games client has updated again

I really wish the client would detect that I'm running Linux, and stop offering me non-Linux games in the frontpage. Out of the 10 "Recommended for you" games, only half of them have the penguin icon. The ratio is even lower in the "Latest featured games" section. Admittedly it took Steam a while to start separating like that, but I'd hope Itch would learn from Valve's mistakes.

Gearend, a cute 2D non-linear exploration game built on Linux

The environments and how the characters move reminds me a lot of Cave Story, wonder if it's working with their engine or something very similar?

QuoteAlbion Online is a PvP and crafting focused MMO, so everything on the markets and all the gear you get is crafted by either you or someone else.

So what system do they have in place so a new player will be able to actually sell their goods in a market that's bound to be flooded with other low-level crafted material? That was an issue in Wakfu, when I tried playing that.
You don't really need to use the market really, unless you do zero gathering and crafting. I believe the markets are per-town too so each is different.

Not sure that really addresses my concern. Let me re-word it. Say I sign up as a new player and I want to go into crafting. I've got to start with the low level stuff, of course. But so does every other newbie, and experienced players who are starting to craft as well. There's going to be a glut of low-level crafted gear on the market, since that's what everyone makes to begin with. So from a seller's perspective, given there's not really anything at the low levels I can make that dozens of others aren't making at the same time, is there a system in place where I'm not just crafting and essentially throwing it away until I get to a sufficiently high skill level?

In Wakfu that was an issue since it's damn hard to sell the low level gear you make due to the glut and how selling works in the first place. Since they sell Albion on you being able to be a craftsperson or gatherer rather than only a combatant, this is kind of an important consideration.

I downloaded this from Itch a couple of weeks ago but haven't played it yet, and when I look now the page seems to have vanished. Seems like I got lucky and grabbed it just in time.

Raft, a rather brilliant prototype game about being stuck in the middle of the ocean

How much stuff can there really be to do on a bleedin' raft in the middle of the ocean?

The dev has a small questionnaire on the site asking what people would like to see most. Small islands is one thing, multiplayer is another. If both were added I could see some nice potential for the game.

Snorkelling and spear fishing would be pretty cool as well. I'm not a multiplayer person, but I'm definitely not against it as an option.

Personally, I really dig the restricted environment. You've got a raft and its immediate surroundings and a whole lot of flotsam to improve your raft with, and that's really it. Finding things to do within those limitations calls for creativity on the developer's part and if they step up to the plate you can really end up with a gem. I'm eager to see where this is headed.

The awesome itch store is also having a big sale, with some real indie gems going cheap

I bought MewnBase, and it's quite well put together. The dev seems pretty committed to working on making it a great game, and has a pretty firm foundation in place.
