I'm glad to see the other gameplay modes being given at least the same prominence as permadeath. I've said it many times, but I think that's a poor fit for the game outside the daily challenges (and up until now, the weekly) and is more an artifact left over from its roguelike roots than something that adds to the experience.
Been a long while since I've played, so loads of changes have piled up. It'll be a lot of fun going back in and getting to experience it all at once. Well, eventually at least. I need to work through my current Stardew obsession before that happens.

Hopefully it doesn't have tank controls, which can happily be left back in the old days.

I'm doing a relaxed run on Stardew Valley right now, so it's extra welcome to see this announcement.
Very interested to see how he makes this as absorbing as SV, given how open-ended the concept to that is. Too early to say much about it yet, though.

I've honestly never heard of this. Where was it when I was looking so hard for mobile games that weren't awful in terms of both gameplay and IAP?

Regarding Age of Rust, I took a look at some gameplay videos and the official trailer. Given it's supposedly in beta, gameplay looks terrible and environments basically look like DOOM 2016 assets without the lighting effects. To say nothing of the beyond awkward movement of the character models (there are only two apparently) and lip synch. The trailer is extra funny, given that should be the most impressive footage they've got available and it's anything but, with the above problems plus obviously inconsistent framerate.
What does seem to be a priority is that you must have an specific wallet on your mobile device even if you're not buying anything, which indicates what the real priorities here are.

It's as foolish as it sounds. And why they derisively (and hilariously) call people not into the scam "right clickers", because they can just save the jpgs and have just as much right to them.
NFT "games", or more realistically life support for the NFT storefront, basically involve the player getting in-game items by buying corresponding NFTs, which undoubtedly ends up costing more than the worst mobile games could even dream of. It's pay-to-win on steroids, and those steroids are on steroids.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI must be out of the loop. What's an NFT? I'd look it up, but acronyms are notoriously bad for searching.Essentially it's a unique link pointing at a copy of some kind of artwork or other JPG, which is sold and traded among the suck...investors. They, and often the seller, do not have rights to the art itself, what they're selling is just the link to it.
