I've definitely been looking forward to this one for quite some time. Hopefully they pay attention to the Linux problems during the EA period.

Twitch has suffered a huge leak of source code with a possible Steam competitor (updated)

Given how "well" Twitch is run, I wouldn't touch this Vapour thing with a bargepole.

Quoting: g000h- People are curious about Linux. In what ways is it different to Windows. Maybe I'd prefer it. Maybe trying it out will be fun.
Also there's tradition that if Microsoft messes up, people get curious about Linux. I think going as far back as Windows Vista. If there's mess on Linux side, there's also possibility to switch distros instead of just going back to Windows.
I recall a lot of talk about people moving from Windows 7 (which by Windows standards was rather good) now that it's lost support from Microsoft early last year. I imagine by now people are starting to notice the effects of no longer having updates and are interested in something that's *not* the newer versions of Windows.

Quoting: slaapliedjeI should spend more time in VR for sure. Also, someone should mod the rest of the Half-Life games into VR... I feel a lot will be left out / missing from Alyx's experience by making a flat version... Like being able to hide behind desks and throw grenades at the enemy. And realize how terrible you are at throwing things...
Don't need VR for that, I see it with shame every time I try to play with balls with my little ones (4 yo). :D
Ha, I don't have any little ones to do that with. Maybe someone can code a 'kid simulator'... then again maybe that is a horrible idea.
There was literally a game called Babysitting Mama for the Wii that involved putting one of the Wiimotes into a plush child toy and doing various things with it. The fact that the mote was only so sensitive led to some hilarious situations.

Spoiler: It was a horrible idea.

Steam Next Fest is live again with demos, livestreams and more

Apparently The Garden Path is also going to have a demo out for this, and the dev will be on the official stream on Saturday and again on Tuesday. Louis has always been good to Linux with his games, so it's worth giving some support.

I wonder if it'll stop asking me to re-login after my computer comes out of sleep mode (but only sometimes) even though it's supposed to keep me logged in.

Quoting: AnzaDamn, I haven't finished the playthrough with Green Planet enabled even yet
I consider finishing the Green Planet DLC to be basically the "end" of a run. It's a natural finishing point, since by then I've finished with the challenge and built what bases I want to. Pity getting the vegetation in place is such a grind though. Hopefully they'll overhaul that at some point.

Primordia from Wormwood Studios gets native Linux support

This was one of the last games I played before ditching Windows 7 to come back to Linux again. It's a true gem in the point and click genre, with puzzles that make sense, quality story and voice acting, and -- most amazing of all -- a smart-mouthed companion that doesn't make you want to beat it to death with a sledgehammer.

Highly recommended.

Valve catches a break in the Steam Controller patent trial versus Ironburg

Quoting: detroutWas it patent trolls that took the steam controller off the market, and not poor sales?
Sales would be my guess, combined with mixed reviews and poor support.
Honestly, if they went all-in on support and put out an official application like SC Controller then I think it would have done far better. As it is, you've got to rely on a third party dev for that, who turned out to be flaky and basically abandoned it.
