Steam Has Greenlit Even More Games For Linux
19 Oct 2013 at 5:34 am UTC

This is essentially half of the titles from this batch of greenlit titles. I think this is the highest ratio of Linux friendly titles that we've seen yet, which is super promising :D

I think The Fall is the one I'm most excited about at the moment. I had the opportunity to play with an early prototype yesterday and I'm really impressed with where John wants to take the game :)

Worms Reloaded Is Now Downloadable & Playable On Steam
19 Oct 2013 at 5:30 am UTC

We had a bunch of post-SteamLUG Cast games this morning, which was pretty sweet. We did have one dual booting person who was on Windows and couldn't work out why they were having trouble joining though. The lack of cross-platform multiplayer with Windows still feels crippling.

We had one game out of 6 or 7 get out of sync, and had a couple of crashes here and there, but I get that kind of thing happening with the Windows version anyway.

One thing I didn't realise was that it has always-on voice chat. I now wonder what the people I normally play with who don't have mics have heard me say over the years >_<

Saitek X52 With Air Conflicts Pacific Carriers On Ubuntu
19 Oct 2013 at 2:49 am UTC

Ha ha, it's hard to think of the X52 as being old. It's certainly got more lights than my X36 :D

Great to see a Linux title on Steam being demoed with a HOTAS system. Air Conflict: Pacific Carriers just got a million times more interesting for me!

Glare Beautiful Platformer Officially Released On Steam

Oh wait, this is by Team Phobic/Phobic Studios? I had no idea. Will definitely check it out :D

Humble Bundle With Android 7 Smashes Down
16 Oct 2013 at 8:08 am UTC

Quoting: Quote from abelthorneThat's a good thing you did: I was barely interested in this bundle only because of Worms, as I know some of my friends play(ed) it. But they're on Windows. So I won't buy it in its current setup.

I really think this limitation should be mentioned in the article (and on the HB website but you don't have control over it).
It might be worth highlighting as well that the DRM free version doesn't appear to have any multiplayer at this point (something I didn't spot this morning when I fired it up).

Good catch.
Unfortunately, in the total combined results, they add and they bundles that didn't have Linux games and that lowers our statistics by a large margin
I haven't yet implemented aggregate indicators for custom selections, but you can do a visual comparison by selecting just the bundles you're interested in from the frequency table for inclusion in the chart playground.

Humble Bundle With Android 7 Smashes Down

Quoting: Quote from abelthorneWarning: according to @ValiantCheese on Twitter, the Linux version of Worms Reloaded is not compatible with the Windows version for multiplayer!
What... noooooooooooooooooo

I was hoping to play with my Windows-using girlfriend
Testers have been aware of this since the beginning. I shot the tweet that abelthorne is referring to out in the hopes that it might encourage people to express to Team17 that there's demand for it. It's a result of the Mac port not being compatible with Windows either (which the Linux port is based on).

I've been playing Reloaded in since it was first released on Steam, so to continue playing with my friends who already play it, I'll have to stick with Wine. I was hoping that out of this, we'd have gotten all platforms playing together, but sadly, it looks like that hasn't happened.

This bundle seems to be off to a strong start revenue wise, but hasn't picked up purchasers as quickly as some previous android bundles. Stats are, of course, up on HumVis [External Link] for anybody to peruse ^_^

The Dark Mod Stealth Game Standalone 2.0 Now Available
13 Oct 2013 at 2:36 am UTC

Quoting: Quote from HadBabitsMan, this is a slow download. Using the automated updater it's running at 4 kbs (As opposed to the 1mbs usual). Still, pretty excited, since I never got a chance to play Thief.
The gameplay is a bit different to Thief. The game has evolved a very different feel, but it still harkens back to the same style of stealth oriented play with a bunch of extra supporting mechanics thrown in. Lock picking in particular is very nice.

Quoting: Quote from HamishPlayed a bit of the mod back when it was a mod. Should be interesting to see how it plays now that it is its own thing.
I don't imagine the game itself will change much as a result of stripping out the remaining Doom 3 assets and jumping over to the open source version of the engine.

There are other gameplay and asset enhancements that are a part of this release though, which will be neat to check out.

I was super happy when I heard about this. I haven't had a chance to download it again yet, but it'll be nice to not have Doom 3 taking up space anymore :D
