Quoting: wojtek88But if you have a car but do not have money for gasoline, do you steal it?
Blah blah, artificial scarcity etc. Stealing something tangible vs. making a copy. IOW: Don't be Lars Ulrich please. Metallica is was awesome but that guy's an idiot.
It may sound different, but in reality it isn't.
It sounds different because it is. ;) Theft and software piracy are not the same thing ethically, even if they are legally. The "you wouldn't steal a car" non-analogy really rubs me the wrong way, apples and oranges and all that.

But I know this isn't the right forum for this discussion. Linux gaming, woo! Emulators, yum!

Quoting: AnxiousInfusionIf GOL wants to be censorious of uncomfortable opinions that sends a stronger message about them than it does me.
No, it doesn't.

Quoting: AnxiousInfusionPiracy is only a satellite issue to my main point that platform exclusives have caused this rift in the first place. Whether or not something is legal does not correlate to it being right or wrong. I believe what I'm doing is a just response to industry's abuse of control.
That's neither here nor there. This is not the right venue for activism. We can (and in this case must) take our issues elsewhere. Liam has made his stance very clear.

@AnxiousInfusion: The thing is, console exclusives are legal and piracy is not, so you might want to take another gander at the GOL rules before posting rants like that. Liam has made it clear that discussions on the ethics or any other aspect of piracy are not welcome.

Weird that it's cheaper to buy these separately than it is to buy the SR IV GotC edition on it's own. I hadn't noticed. Thanks.

Good luck! You'll do fine if you just do what you're told and keep your head down. In other words: Leave your brain at home, you'll do better without it.

Quoting: STiATCan't say about Talos, but I enjoyed Mordor [a lot], even though, it was not really challanging and the end fight was not what I'd epect of an end boss fight.
That's okay. I'm not looking for challenge. I play most of these games at the easiest available difficulty. Life's challenging enough. :)

Lot's of games on my wishlist at good prices. I can only afford a couple of them though, so it's going to be a tough choice. I'm leaning towards Mordor and Talos though. SR IV is also high on the list. I've already seen most of Tomb Raider at a friend's, but the deal is pretty good.

People don't seem to realize that the open PC platform was a fluke of history that would never, ever happen again. There is not a single type of hardware other than PCs that generally allows people to change the OS or install custom software not approved by the vendor.
Yup.
I've heard this before, but I don't believe it's even remotely true. It's just a thing certain experts (and "experts" aka media) like to say, without much basis in reality.

Quoting: badberIn any case their existing performance problems seem like they are much more likely to be solved by using more of the general purpose cores than they would be with a GPU. The developer comments on that thread sounded like they aren't really interested in doing much about it though.
Threading is tricky. Interest is all fine and dandy, but time and money are needed as well.
