Bringing together audio and video, PipeWire for Linux is really coming along

Quoting: PatolaSo it's like pulseaudio + gstreamer? I remember redirecting audio and video streams with gst-something back and forth my cellphone with Linux (N900) and my PC many years ago.I've only redirected audio over the network with pulseaudio on my Sailfish phones, but the multimedia framework is based on gstreamer so I guess this might still work. Takes a bit of tinkering though.

Quoting: JXSViNBy the way in case you are on debian or any kind of distro that has the alien package in the repo. The official native installer on https://itch.io/app [External Link] works just fine for me. No need for alien or anything else. Just download, make executable and run.
There is a native linux package for itch.io

I've also got a Steam controller (thanks to a friend who was nice enough to send me theirs), but I haven't been able to get used to it. I mean I like the idea of it, but I just don't have the manual dexterity for the thumb pads and the face buttons are in a very uncomfortable location for me. Not to mention the clicky noises. They just drive me (and my wife) up the wall.

Quoting: JuliusI had a very similar issue with my F310. Opening it up didn't show anything as the problem was in the cable at the point where it enters the controller. Seems like a common point where the cable partially breaks.I did the same thing with my first F310, although with an ugly cable repair shrink sleeve + duct tape mess. That lasted for a while. But when the second one broke, I went for the F710 instead and I've been very happy with that decision. It was twice the price but it also feels at least twice as solid. And I just love the ergonomics of these things, stiff triggers and all.
I fixed it by cutting the cable a bit shorter and resoldering it inside on the PCB. Wasn't super easy, but very manageable even for a novice solderer like me.

Quoting: sourpuzIn case you didn't notice, the link I gave you has a separate Lutris script for downloading and installing the UAP 2.0.0 patch with the high resolution fix and other goodies. In case you don't know what Lutris is, you can read more here [External Link]. Or read one of Liam's articles on it here on GOL. :)Quoting: tuubiYou're right, it works. The resolution is usually the problem. There is a fan-made patch, but I'm not sure whether it runs on Linux. Or better, how to install it. And I'm notoriously wary of downloading patches from dark corners of the web :)Quoting: sourpuzI'd love to play Arcanum, but it's not easy to set up on a modern PC, even on Windows.I haven't tried them myself (yet), but Lutris has Wine install scripts for the GOG version or Arcanum and its essential patches here [External Link]. Should be worth a try.

Quoting: damarrinSometimes you can’t because new hardware from AMD comes out and support is nowhere to be seen in the kernel and/or mesa and you get it in bits and pieces months later. Both Intel and Nvidia manage to sort out their shit way in advance (Intel) or by launch date (Nvidia) and AMD can’t. That’s the real issue here.I think software has always been AMD's (and ATI's before that) weak point. That said, my experience with the 5700 XT and the RX 580 before that has been excellent, and I can't see myself going back to Nvidia any time soon. I mean I rarely had problems with their blob either. Just the occasional problem when testing a new kernel or trying to get some video to play without tearing etc. So I'm happier with AMD, but I don't blame anyone for being happy with their Nvidia GPU either. Both are a valid choice for Linux gaming these days.

Quoting: damarrinThis is a dangerous slope. The obvious difference is that nobody told this dev he can't write a character in a wheelchair. Just that he should be careful not to perpetuate harmful stereotypes. You're allowed to point those out, and it's not the same as censoring them.
What’s the difference between this and telling a male writer he can’t write a female character because he’s not one?

ScummVM is a collection of game engines. Some of these engines are ports of original codebases and some are clean reimplementations. They all share the portable low-level bits and the launcher/configuration GUI.

Quoting: GuestI just cloned the repo and checked out the branch just to make sure, and I see that commit right there in the log. Though I did accidentally give you a slightly confusing link that listed commits from both the release branch and master, if that's what you meant. Now the link should match your git log output.Quoting: tuubiThanks! This was my suspicion, too, but couldn't find it.Quoting: GuestBut they request testing it with a 'stable' version, and link to their builds, where no working version for my system is offered :(Based on the content of the debian archive, I'd guess the build is based on commit 88f8102 (on branch release-2-2 [External Link]
Does someone here know what it's compiled from? (branch, commit..?)
Seems I need to work on my git skills. I had switched to branch origin/branch-2-2 and checked with 'git log', but couldn't see that commit.
Turns out a 'git log' shows completely different commit numbers
But I guess that's OT here.....
