Quoting: ShmerlFor drawing, try Krita. It's a lot better than Gimp for that. The later is a good raster image processing editor.
So where does Inkscape come into all this?
It's an awesome vector graphics editor.

Quoting: LinasIn Denmark I see people using Linux on their laptops from time to time. MacBooks are very popular. But I don't think I have ever seen a Chromebook, either in use, or in a shop. Not anywhere in Northern or Eastern Europe for that matter.
Statcounter seems to disagree:

I said that I have never seen one, and that is still true. :P
True for me as well. But maybe they're being used in schools. That seems to be Google's strategy. You know, the one they copied from Apple. (EDIT: Of course it's a big part of the MS monopoly too.) Personally I don't really care which of these corporations nets all that cash, but I wish it was none of them.

In Finland Statcounter actually puts Linux at close to 3% of the market, which is nice. Denmark seems to be the least Linux-friendly Nordic country. Well, except for Iceland, but I don't know if that data is trustworthy. They seem to have gone from 4% Linux to less than one percent in four months.

I don't really know that much about games on other platforms, but I'd be into another big, exploration heavy open world adventure in the vein of Mad Max or Shadow of Tomb Raider. Or Dirt Rally 2. Or a really good RPG.

Quoting: The_Aquabatwell it's a real catastrophe, the smoke went as far as here in south america. But also it's disappointing that global press didn't have this kind of coverage with the amazonas fires, lots of hollywood artist that are donating and sharing the grief on social media didn't have the same attitude with the amazonas fires.
It was very well covered and shared on social media here in Germany. That's why I compared the two above.
I avoid social media, but actual news outlets covered the fires quite often here in Finland.

Quoting: ShmerlNavi support by now (5.5-rc5) is mostly good, a few lingering issues have workarounds, and aren't major blockers.
I guess I've been lucky with my 5700 XT. I can't say I've hit any issues at all. In fact, I don't remember ever having such a smooth experience with a GPU on Linux, be it Nvidia, AMD or Intel. Then again, I've only had it for a couple of months. Seems like things were much rougher around launch.

Quoting: tuubiThat wasn't my point. AMD specifically mentioned 1440p gaming in some of their marketing materials. Also, I don't know what 144Hz has to do with the resolution.
Computational load increases with both resolution and framerate.
Thanks for stating the obvious, but I don't see how any of this is relevant. If a GPU can run modern games at 1440p at a consistent 60 FPS or above without sacrificing detail, it is usually advertised by hardware vendors as being suited for 1440p gaming. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

Resolution alone isn't the only factor.

"ultimate 1080p gaming experience"
* laughs in 1440p *

What are they thinking? 1080p is from 5 years ago, why infest in old stuff? Why no new cards for ultimate 2k or 4k experience? In this sector NVidia is still the way to go sadly
The 5700 (XT) they brought out months ago was aimed at 1440p.

And I'm happily using one for 1080p gaming BTW.
