Here's more of the latest Steam Deck Verified games including Sea of Thieves

What have you been playing recently?
Mostly on the steam deck:
  • Stardew Valley - I'll finish this time I swear!

  • Nightingale - now that offline mode exists

  • Symphony of War - chipping away one campaign map after another but still too much to go.

  • Infection Free Zone- from the 112/911 operator team. Zombies in a real life town that you know off.

  • Book of Travels - Wonderful to dip in now and then

  • Forge (adventure mode) - finally figured how to run this java mtg game on the deck. Warmly reminds me of old Microprose MTG Shandalar: Duels of the Planeswalkers

  • Forza Horizon 4 - bit the bullet and got it during the steam sale. Nice racing but mandatory intro sucks.

EDIT: added Stardew Valley and BoT comments.

I've restarted my run, and the new "Meadows" farm is sweet!

Quoting: Philadelphus[...] One thing I didn't see mentioned is that the new Meadowlands farm starts you with two chickens, making it great for playthroughs that want to go for more of a ranching playstyle immediately.
Not only it has the coop two baby chickens at the start, but it has lots of woods vibe to it. So it might be good for those who do not go full in into 1 thing (ex: farming).

Ocean adventure game Sail Forth goes fully open-world, plus an expansion is coming

FYI if anyone wants to try the game via Heroic/proton, it seems Sail Forth will be the next week's free game on Epic Store (11-18 Jan). And btw right now the giveaway is Guardians of the Galaxy.

Not that Epic matters much for the linux ecossystem, I though there might be at least someone interested here.

Here's the Steam Deck most played for October 2023

Back to Valheim and Xenonauts 2, with a bit of playtesting of Cyber Knights Flashpoint. Once again turn based games with the deck's trackpads is a wonderfull combination. Really can't see why people want other handhelds without them.

Didn't manage to finish No Man's Sky latest expedition, so it's on hold till the next.

SteamOS-like Linux package Bazzite 2.0 is out now for Steam Deck and desktop
9 Nov 2023 at 11:28 pm UTC

I installed it on an asus with ryzen apu mini PC, and it's there to stay. Only thing that is not working as I expected is that sometimes the updates inside steamOS stay at 99%. On Chimera that part worked a bit better. Switching from game mode to desktop is fast, and can be used as a daily driver.

The worst thing, were some troubles trying to install in other devices, which they also state on their website:

Installer issues from upstream still plague the user experience unfortunately.
However, things are looking up, so perhaps in the near future this will not be an issue anymore.
Post-installation, you should be able to use Bazzite on your device smoothly, but please let us know if you experience any issues.

On a NVIDIA second hand mini gaming PC (the one I used before the steamdeck) it doesn't boot at all, and on my latptop it installs but breaks at the end. Same for both Fedora Linux immutable versions (Kinoite & Silverblue) which Bazzite is based on.

Valve reveals Steam Deck OLED for November 16th

I was defininatly not expecting this right now. The poor color saturation was my biggest gripe with the deck, even more than the small(er) screen. Ori and the Blind Forest [External Link] was bearable, but playing !Gris [External Link] was definately not the same as on other screens at all.

Another small change:

45W Power supply with 2.5m cable

The other version had a 1.5m cable that was a bit to short. Most of the time I ended up using my lenovo laptop usb-c charger instead.

The wifi 6 is another thing that will make this device live long and prosper, as even as a plain minipc it already outperformed all other minipcs at their pricepoint. So It's a welcome update indeed!

I wonder how much will the 1st gen be worth on second hand markets...?

Zombie survival in your city – Infection Free Zone

Playing the previous dev's 112 operator, which also used real world data was a game changer: oth in terms of immersion, and challenges (streets with dead ends). So I look very much forward for this one too.

DREAMM emulator for classic LucasArts games v2.1 out with Linux support
7 Sep 2023 at 4:04 pm UTC

So many found memories of Indiana Jones and His Desktop Adventures and Star Wars: Yoda Stories

Quoting: GeamanduraI don't get it. If it's just a "low level emulation", then why not just use Dosbox instead, which is a low level emulation? It would sound that this project only implements the subset of Dosbox which is needed at runtime by these games.
These two games for example were full windows GUI shareware games, that complety got broken on the Win95/98 to WinXP upgrade.

That and Clik n Play games :(

JSAUX launch their Steam Deck RGB backplate and RGB Docking Station
22 Jul 2023 at 6:48 pm UTC

What I find most curious here is SteamOS had initially support for RGB colors. I got one 2nd hand Alienware, one of the first Steam Machines, put Chimera (then GamerOS) on it and was surprised when I saw the option inside steam big picture to select the colors of the hardware case!

The glowing eyes were cool. Everything else with that machine was a bad experience though.

New Stars is a slimmed down quicker Stellaris-like strategy sim

Bummer... I too had hopes it was a reboot of the old Stars!
