I feel pretty confident in saying that if the Steam Deck succeeds, Valve will absolutely develop games catering to their own creation. Why wouldn't they?

Immutable file system with the option of installing applications via Flatpak is, I think, the right move for this kind of device. Those two factors will protect the less-technical users from themselves.
GOG to go through some reorganization after suffering losses

I liked GOG when I was on Windows.
But I'm on Linux now, and GOG is no longer an option. Valve caters to me, now a Linux user, through Steam. GOG does not cater to Linux users like me. The choice is, shall they say, obvious.

One of the reasons I like Plasma is that it has sane defaults, for me, but also provides the option to customize further for those who want to do those things.
I don't like to do a lot of customizing, and I like things simple, but I DON'T want what something like GNOME offers.

My hope is that in addition to the Steam Deck being an overall success, that it is also a success in Japan; a country notorious for their preference for handheld consoles. If the Japanese like the Steam Deck, then Japanese developers should hopefully better optimize their games for running on Proton (or do native builds, either works for me).
Canonical want your feedback on Ubuntu Gaming

I started off using Ubuntu when I made the switch to Linux last year (Xubuntu and Kubuntu were what I used the most). However, I've since soured on Canonical, and the switch of Firefox from a deb to a Snap caused me to leave anything 'buntu for Debian, the original.
I do not trust Canonical to seriously orient Ubuntu in any way for playing video games. However, I also don't think Debian, or anything based on it, is the best for targetting gaming in the first place.
Personally, I think Valve has the right idea. I think an Arch-based system offers the most flexibility for gaming on Linux. I'm planning on trying out Arch via EndeavourOS myself in the coming weeks as soon as my PC build is complete.

KDE Discover gets update to prevent you breaking your Linux system

While I think Linus was at fault for the implosion of his Pop install, I don't have a problem with APT being patched.
The Discover update is good too, even as someone who doesn't use Discover (or any GUI software center aside from Muon/Synaptic). A software center is what will be used by new users to install packages, so the easier it is for them to use the better.
The reality is that there are a lot of "not so literate in tech" people out there that use and rely on computers. And I think it's necessary, whether anyone likes it or not, for an OS to protect the user from themselves when necessary. Linux, GNU/Linux, whatever you want to call it is something that should be able to be used by anyone, regardless of their computer literacy.
Heck, I only started using Linux last year myself, and I'm still no expert.

Trying to install Steam shouldn't have caused this problem in the first place, but the terminal was also pretty clear, in my view, that you (Linus) should not do what you are about to do. I don't blame APT here.
