I love the original Alien movie, but I could never bring myself to play this game. I don't do well with run-and-hide horror games. It explains why the only survival horror games I've ever finished have been Resident Evil titles.

No offense to people who still like Halo, but it just feels like a relic of the 2000's to me. In my high school years, Halo was big; and Reach was basically the swan song of the franchise. Ever since 343 took over, Halo just hasn't been part of the zeitgeist the way it was in the 2000's.

That said, I am curious as to why you use the Steam Flatpak when you're on Arch. I can understand using it on a stable distribution like Ubuntu or Debian, but isn't using it on Arch kind of redundant? Again, not criticizing your choice, just curious as to your reasoning.

Quoting: MayeulCI'm not criticizing your choice. Like I said, I used the Steam Flatpak myself before Canonical/Ubuntu temporarily broke some Flatpaks. I have noticed a slight performance hit when running games in the Steam Flatpak compared to native, but it's not enough to be a problem.Quoting: mphuZPretty sure it's CCP for Chinese Communist Party in English (in French that would be PCC).Quoting: LinasCCPCPC
Quoting: CyborgZetaI'm surprised the Steam Flatpak is that high. I see more than a few people around the Web explicitly not recommend using the Steam Flatpak. Even I quit using it a while back during that AppArmor bug in Ubuntu that made certain Flatpaks, such as Steam, unusable for a time.Well, it works very well for me, avoids cluttering my home with random game files, I don't require multilib on my system, and it sandboxes proprietary applications (games are not known for their good security practices). I've been using it for years, and only had the occasional issue (such as CEF sandboxing initially not working in Gmod).

I no longer use Arch (Arch-based, in my case), but I think it's good to see Valve continue to be good members of the community.

I played a demo of Soul Reaver 1 on the PS1 long ago back in 1998. I remember the game being dark and confusing.
PlayStation 1 emulator DuckStation changes license for no commercial use and no derivatives

While DuckStation was my first experience with PS1 emulation, and was what got me fully into emulation in general back in 2020, I've been using the Beetle PSX core in RetroArch for the past couple years. The only complaint I have with it, as well as the Beetle Saturn core, is that it's demanding on the CPU. For my Steam Deck, I use the SwanStation core, and I hope that is able to keep going despite this license change.
Resident Evil 2 makes a return to GOG with lots of improvements

Just like with RE1, this doesn't work for me on Heroic with Wine. I can get to the menu (with no sound effects), but as soon as I start the story and the narration kicks in...it gives me an error message and basically crashes.
I expect RE3 to be the same when it releases. Guess I'm sticking to emulating the PS1 or other console releases; I'm not bending over backwards to figure out why these GOG releases don't work.

I hope this one actually works in Heroic. I could not get RE1 from GOG to launch in Heroic at all; always the same error, "failed to initialize graphics hardware".
RE2 is my favorite of the classic Resident Evils.
