Quoting: LamdarerCould be that Arch actually dominates with other derivatives like Endevour etc on the other side there is also Linux Mint or POP!_OS which are Ubuntu Based as well.Arch derivates have their own /etc/os-release (or whatever) and don't appear as Arch.
Quoting: LamdarerBut what bugs me the most is that while SteamOS Holo has 13.69% for Linux, the AMD Custom GPU has more 13.72%. Wouldnt that mean that there is a significant portion of Deck users who installed another Linux Distro on itPeople got bored and started doing other way around😂 Anyways, there a few different use cases for using non SteamOS but it doesn't matter.

Quoting: MohandevirThese won't get the survey because Gamemode/Gamescope doesn't trigger it, from what I read. You can still receive survey on game mode.

Quoting: AussieEeveeIt's also a gimmick that Valve borrowed for the Steam Deck. There have been many handhelds, including ones similar to Switch form factor like psp and vita. IMO Deck borrowed from all of them😁

Quoting: scaineIf Nvidia are going to do anything around open source, it'll be their new kernel modules, I expectThe kernel modules are curently usable for some cases like gaming but lack some features like power management and are a bit buggy. I was using open kernel modules but switched back because of bugs.
Quoting: ShmerlI think nouveau is actually the most relevant for this questionI don't think nouveau will be relevant for GT800 and above for a year but it indeed will be in the future.

My expectation is that SteamOS 3 will be released for the masses at the end of this year (november, december) possibly along with Deckard. (new VR headset) Also Steam Deck will make it to the markets in a few regions at the end of this year.
