Quoting: DeadCodeThe poor can have lots of cores. I got a Ryzen 2700 for my gaming box for for $150. I've seen Ryzen 1700's for a $120 on ebay. So the poor are not limited in cores.Wait, even the poor have eight cores now? What does that make me? Destitute? *cries in quadcore*

From looking at the bug report for Final Fantasy [External Link] it looks like the devs could use some help cleaning out older bug reports for the game. An easy task if you want to help out.
...or we could just create a GoFundMe to hire a hitman to target the kind of people who decide to create game launchers requiring not only a browser component, but also uses ActiveX. 🤮

Quoting: TheSHEEEPProton-GE has to be one of the most wildly unreliable pieces of software that I use regularly anyway. This must be expected. There's a reason all those patches haven't been mainlined yet.
If/How it works changes radically for me per game. Some games won't work with it at all that work just fine with normal Proton, some games work, but with abysmal performance compared to normal Proton.
Or the other way around.
Or anything in-between.

Yay zebras!
I'm very glad about the road markers fix. Those buggers had a tendency to find themselves stuck in the wheel wells of some cars, leading to rally car pole vaulting...

Let's see... Valve is now using (an old) Ubuntu for the Scout Steam runtime. Debian 10 as the Soldier runtime for Proton, and Arch for SteamOS. Pretty cool little menagerie of distributions!
As a Debian user I guess I should be disappointed by them choosing Arch. But why? We should celebrate open platforms. The lack of vendor lock in, and how easy it is to move from one distro to another!

Rumor is that Zenimax is actually working on a way to travel back in time and prevent any source releases from id from ever having taken place.

Quoting: MaathId used to open source their game engines after a while. Do they not do that anymore either?Nope.

Quoting: Alm888It can (by default root directory is mounted as Z: drive). So a Linux-aware Windows virus can access ones "host" filesystem and, let's say, encrypt all the files it can grab.Yes! This should be stated and re-stated over and over again. The danger is not just theoretical. Wine is proven to be both virus and ransomware compatible:
WINE developers warn everybody: WINE is NOT a sandbox!
