Really want this or Age of Wonders III - will get whichever is ported first. Just really want a fantasy 4x game :). Both look great, so yeah, whoever is quickest gets my money :P

Windows Games On Linux, WINE & PlayOnLinux

Before the says of Steam on Linux, I used to use PlayOnLinux all the time to keep all the games in order and manage them in a user friendly way.

Now I barely use it, used it for the first time in maybe 5 months this month to play FF7. Though it's less essential for gaming than it used to be, it will still always be great for those games we know will never get ported.

New EU Tax Rule Could Ruin A Lot Of Indie Developers

Quoting: liamdaweSadly, it will probably mean shutting down our Patreon. Since that would most likely be classed under a service of giving users GOL Premium. From what I have seen Patreon aren't replying to people about it.
You could register as a non-profit... Depends if you think its worth the hassle though (no idea how easy or difficult it is in the UK unfortunately).

New EU Tax Rule Could Ruin A Lot Of Indie Developers

I find these kind of measures pretty hilarious. Those in power need to be seen doing things against major issues like tax evasion, which are ultimately out of their power since the entire global economy is completely dependent on corporate tax evasion.

So what do they do? Token gestures like this which makes no real difference on the grand scheme of things other than to make headlines and only hurts the little guy while Amazon, HSBC (and Valve) and countless others continue to pay nothing. It's kind of ridiculous that Valve S.A.R.L (subsidiary based in Luxembourg) most likely pays next to no tax while some indie devs may have to put their businesses at risk so some people somewhere can score some political points.

Remember a thing a couple of years ago where HMRC would "name and shame" tax evaders and create greater transparency. People expected the likes of Barclays, Vodaphone, etc. but all we got was some small businesses like carpet layers. That same year I believe those considerably larger companies payed around 1% corporation tax.

SuperTuxKart 0.8.2 Beta Released

Quoting: GuestSeriously, why is this on Windows and Mac?
Why not? Open Source game doesn't mean it needs to be Linux exclusive. Plenty of Open Source games on proprietary OSs and plenty of proprietary games on Open Source OSs - they're not mutually exclusive.

Steam, maybe later, we'll first have to get the stable 0.8.2 out. Thanks for the comments so far!
A Steam release would be awesome! With this latest Beta the game is already at a really good level and no doubt it would get greenlit by a tonne of Linux users.

Sweet. I'm really looking forward to Fog Mendonca as well, I'm expecting great things from OKAM in the future.

No, Final Fantasy XIII-2 Probably Isn't Coming To Linux
16 Dec 2014 at 6:11 pm UTC

Ah man, who cares. Last good FF was IX, it's just been big-budget rubbish with no substance since then.

The whole "FF7 remake trolling" thing actually reminded me to replay FF7 and I'm just getting annoyed by the pixelated backgrounds and that I can't swap them out for better ones without losing achievements (the only thing Squeenix bothered to add) so keep feeling I would have been better off keeping my money and just pirating it.

For them to support Linux it would have to be a completely different company.

Airline Tycoon Lands On Linux, Somehow We Didn’t Notice

Quoting: HyeronWasn't there a native port done by Runesoft waaaaaay back then? Is it the same or a RE-port? :p
Yeah, I had completely forgotten about that! Seems like it is then.

Another thing that perhaps went unnoticed:

Steam now shows "Windows" instead of "PC" in the search form
Wow, really surprised that went unnoticed. That's also really awesome news! If Steam writes it like that, then almost everyone else will now too :)

Airline Tycoon Lands On Linux, Somehow We Didn’t Notice

Quoting: thelimeydragonGoing by the forums the game was only put on Steam for Windows in November.

Is this an actual native port? As I would be amazed for such an old game to be ported without using a WINE wrapper.
No idea... I just "sold" all my inventory of useless emoticons and backgrounds to get some "gems" and "bid" on this game to see if I can get it for free, but haven't tried it yet since i'm still waiting on the results of the "auction" (I feel lame even saying that I did this). I can let you know once I get it though.

It wouldn't bother me if it was a Wine wrapper given that it's such an old game and won't notice any performance issues. As long as there's no problem with the game I'm not opposed to the Wine wrapper, I just don't like it when it's done for newer more graphic-intensive games.
