Civilization: Beyond Earth To Launch Very Soon On Linux

The game has received way too much criticism in my opinion, but it's like Civ 5 when it first came out and was a bit bare and sort of lacking, but with the expansions it's the best civilization to date... Thing is it's going to kind of hurt paying £30 for this, then another £45 for three expansions as they come out.

First-Person Puzzle Game The Talos Principle Due For Release Today, Available For Pre-Loading

Quoting: GuestAgreed Segata… I’m not buying a puzzle game for that price. I’ll wait for a sub-15€ sale.

BTW The Swapper was great… until I got stuck. Never finished it and probably never will.
You should find a guide for the bit you're stuck on and give it a second chance :). I did get stuck a couple of times and it was worth consulting a guide. For me it was far more about the ambiance and the story than the puzzles, so didn't feel bad doing it. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed a lot of the puzzles, but they werent what made it a really rewarding game to play.

I really enjoyed the demo and love the concept for the game, but still think £27 is just asking a crazy amount for it. In my pre-PC days I would have had no problem paying that, but since on Steam you could buy at least 3 great games for that money, finding it harder and harder to part with my cash. I guess I'll wait a while, still really looking forward to it though :)

How Steam Computes Linux Sales

Quoting: dubigrasuSo, what if I buy Skyrim on my Linux and just leave it in my account? (no playing no nothing)
Will this count as a Linux sale although is a Windows only game? :)
Actually, there are some indications that it really does :-) Stanley Parable's developer claimed on the forum he could already see some Linux purchases, even though there's still no Linux version available. But this use case is most probably very rare. But yeah, it seems to work this way. On the other hand, it sends the message "even though I run on Linux, I'm willing to buy and play a Windows-only version of this game" (i.e. Wine or Windows in dual boot), so I'm not sure whether it incentivizes developers to provide a proper Linux version.
That also could have been Wine... Could have been many things. The bottom line is that Valve needs to be a lot more open with these kings of things.

Speculation: BioShock Infinite Might Be an eON port

Notice: we didn't "leak the story" unlike some people seem to think. All of the information available to us regarding the BioShock Infinite port was public. We can thank SteamDB and Reddit for that.
I find it kind of hilarious that there's accusations of leaks. Although I do love GOL and think it's great, we hardly have the reach and ability to infiltrate games companies and extract information from anonymous sources... We just have to rely on publicly available information, which is hardly "leaking".

BioShock Infinite Looks Set For A Linux Release (CONFIRMED)

Yeah, I clicked install yesterday and after about 20 seconds I stopped the install because clearly nothing was going to happen. If I'm wrong on that though and someone has somehow managed to get it working on Linux a few months before the release date, then please let me know.

Quoting: liamdaweI don't think they use of sound system software is really that needed, it's more about hardware and your gaming habits, and less about library choice.
Yup, I don't really see it happening either.

It's not just that it's not hugely relevant to gaming, but to be honest, since hardware support has become more reliable, I find myself having no idea what I use any more since I never have to fiddle with anything. I think there may well be a lot of people in the "don't know" category.
