Battle.net broke in Wine / Proton - here's how to fix for Steam Deck / Linux

For people using some form of Wine / Proton in Lutris you can add WINE_SIMULATE_WRITECOPY with a value of 1 as an environment variable in the system options inside a Wine runner you're using.
Also works great for Bottles too.

<battle.net bottle>->Options->Settings->Compatibility->'Environment Variables'

Prior to this tip. As a work around I opened the file explorer for the bottle and deleted the battle.net.14542 version under the battle.net installation directory.
Worked, thanks :)

Instant Certified Banger. Looks like from the video the dev still has the magicsauce too if he's doing it himself.

Quoting: RonDamonIt seems that the market is worries of the UE5 near-monopoly. This is good.
This is an excellent point. If I was a pushing 100 million in sales with a Unreal 5 game, it would be in my interest to keep Unreal Engine on their toes, and what better way than to sling a tax deduction at their competitor.

That way my money strengthens my interests that business partners (Epic) continue to behave fairly and don't try to pull some mickey mouse Unity BS like -- oof we're gonnna charge you every time your game is downloaded or installed like WTF?

I guess they LOVE money and staying relevant more than they HATE Loonix. That's what I love about competitive markets -- Baldurs Gate 3 has stolen so many crowns other RPGs feel the need to __COMPETE__ again.

And their owners at Microsoft aren't known for being fond of it, either.
Gonna have to take a back seat and see what Microsoft does now that they acquired StarCraft II, Diablo and Call of Booty

Edit 2: I'm also looking for a good racer, LAN PvP -- unfortunately Garfield Kart and Super Indie Kart are not LAN AFAIR :(
You can search for the games on Steam for LAN Coop.
Yeah I already did that and the tags weren't too helpful. I bought a few of them, and have to return 1 since the term "Multiplayer" was used ambiguously to mean "Multiplayer on 1 Big Screen"
"Multiplayer" isn't the tag you want to look for.

Thank you for offering your insight and leads to actual help. I never thought to look for a tag "LAN PvP" (especially under a entirely different heading) -- for as long as I can remember it's always been classified as "Multiplayer" so hopefully that is the missing link?

Admittedly, I wasn't being 100% precise when pulling the term "multiplayer" from memory. The Steam Deck autumn sales page had several variations of the tag,

I think there are some good leads here, thank you :)

After having played for hours on the LCD and OLED versions, the LCD does have a certain "charm" [*everything on the LCD is more blue saturated, OLED the oranges and blacks pop] maybe I am used to LCD screens. The OLED is fantastic for viewing angles, the blacks are much more black (no more IRL "you" reflection) -- the new ones are lighter, and all in all feel great.

Their construction was already fantastic, but the OLED in your hands feels like there are sufficient quality of life improvements that Valve is honing their craft delivering an amazing product.

[* Better Joysticks, * Thinner Black Screen Border, 90 refresh rate v 60,] The Trackpads are easier to type on, more precise I guess. Obviously the torx screws are a significant upgrade and the improved thermals, battery, 1nm smaller tech, Triggers feel great, and other stuff.

I've officially started to have "Deck Parties" -- Did a 6 Player 6 Deck party last weekend playing Among Us, I'm looking for more living room Deck style games. I am excited at the prospect of having 16 player gaming nights in the living room again like the Y2K Halo days when you had 4 Xboxes, 4 TVs playing Halo with 12-16 people.

Edit: Can you imagine how much money is sitting on the table -- the Network Effect and multiplication factor on a 12-16 player game is nothing to squeak at -- my prediction -- somebody is going to do the math, get first to the market, blow up on PC-Linux Handheld Ggaming, and then a bunch of big name copy cats are going to show up in envy.
