Quoting: BTREI'm not sure where you're seeing the SoTN in this.I was thinking of the silhouette effect on one of the attacks and the light effects on several of them. The changing weather also reminded me of that, but that's probably not unique to SotN. I agree that the environment looks a bit messy and blends together too much, but it's an early build and hopefully they improve on that. The ARPG elements is what interests me the most about this game, but it remains to be seen how well it will work in practice.

I'm completely obsessed with this game. Not very good at it though, but I'm making progress. ;) There's a neat interview with the developers on Gamasutra [External Link] where they talk about what inspired them to create this game.

Thanks for the write-up. :) Looks interesting.
Fans of this genre might also be interested to know that Wizorb has been re-ported by flibitijibibo and is now available on Steam [External Link] (I think it was originally ported with MonoGame for HIB6 a couple of years ago).

Yeah, I've been playing it on Linux. Infinifactory [External Link] took them much longer to get on Linux, and I kind of forgot about it/lost interest by the time it was released. (I'm not sure if we even covered its Linux release on GOL?)

^ I agree with all of this.
Another thing that I feel is worth emphasizing about YHtWtG and SWtG is that both games have a lot of respect for player skill. The rooms are designed so that an experienced player can just run through most of them without pause (except the few rooms where the challenge is just that), so once you've got the movements committed to muscle memory, minor challenges won't keep tripping you up with random bullcrap. Makes for a wonderfully fluid game experience, and it's the only reason I even bothered with the YOLO achievement in the first game, since I don't normally like those kinds of challenges.

Umbra looks damn sweet and that apocalyptic form is epic! I don't often back (or play) action RPGs, but I think I might have to make an exception for this one.

Wadjet Eye Games make installers for their games, so you'll have to extract the game files with innoextract [External Link] first. The Windows demo [External Link] works fine for me with a fresh AGS build, but of course official GOL policy is to not buy until the game is officially supported for Linux. ;)

Quoting: MGOidIt have some bugs. The map don't follow you correctly so you really can't use it for directions.Do you mean that the marker indicating your player character doesn't update correctly? I didn't experience that issue, but I did get a freeze a short while after the mentioned boss fight.
