In my opinion, when a developer does not want to offer support for a particular video game of theirs any more, they should release the source code if possible, especially if the game is a hit.
If the game is a hit, I believe releasing its source code basically guarantees it will live on as long as it has a dedicated cult following.

I also think Unity3D and Unreal Engine developers prioritize Windows and consoles because that's where most of the revenue comes from, and so Windows and consoles are more important to the aforementioned engines' core developers.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyWith Godot you can depend on their Linux support being just as good as their support for any other platform, maybe better.I believe that's largely because Godot is Free, Open Source software. Linux people are more inclined towards FOSS software and contributing to FOSS projects, and so Linux gets higher priority from the core Godot developers because of this feedback loop between Linux-based contributors and developers.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyPhase 3: Eventually as Linux share rises, native Linux gets targeted as a platform again because it's big and important now.I'm not so sure that will happen. I know market share is the #1 complaint most developers have about Linux, but if developers can just export a Windows build, and expect it to run perfectly on Linux under Proton, why would developers go to the trouble of trying to offer a native Linux port? In other words, if it's not broken, there's no need to fix it. And not going to the trouble of offering a native Linux port saves time and money that could be better spent on other things.

I'm glad to see the Godot engine becoming more popular by the month. You can look in the "Software & Game Development [External Link]" category on Twitch.tv, and at any given time, you may see a few developers working on their games with the Godot engine.
Although Unity3D is still by far the most popular game engine in 2024 so far [External Link], Unity Technologies certainly seem to have shot themselves in the foot with their runtime fee announcement, and now they are laying off people by the thousands [External Link].

There is already clear-cut solid evidence of plaigiarism [External Link] on the part of Pocketpair.
But since they made so much money from Palworld, one would hope they would use it to hire on a few more artists so that the Pokemon ripoff designs can be replaced with less infringing designs and models.

Ooooh, interesting!
Good thing I still have Unreal Gold, Unreal 2, and Unreal Tournament on my GOG.com account. Seeing this makes me wonder if it will ever be possible to play Rune [External Link] on this engine.
And speaking of Rune, the developers announced a new game in the series [External Link] years ago, but it seems like nothing has come of it.

Canonical recently had to take down the Ubuntu 23.10 release [External Link] because a corrupt translator vandalized the Ukrainian translation. Although it's perfectly understandable why they would do so, it is no less inappropriate and disrespectful to the authors of the original text.
The Anime industry has recently come under fire for that sort of localization vandalism, too. Apparently it's gotten so bad, that people will celebrate when a human translator is fired from the Anime industry, and replaced with an AI.

Working in translation, another worrisome trend I’ve noticed is content farms not just using AI to write articles, but to translate themGiven the choice between a corrupt human translation and an AI translation, which one will you choose?
