Quoting: BeamboomBah these guessing games are FUN, chepati and Mohandevir! It doesn't spoil anything. It doesn't affect any release dates. It's just for good measure.Personnally, I don't really care but I understand Chepati's point of view. It's true that many purchases could get postponed for the official Linux release if us, dualbooting gamers, knew earlier that the game was coming.
Keep us guessing, Feral!
:)

Quoting: chepatiI wish Feral would stop these teases and instead would plainly announce what games they've acquired the rights to port. The sooner, the better. In fact, if possible *before* the windows release date. This will make sure that linux gamers who want to play a particular game can hold off on the purchase until the game is released on linux. I have 4-5 games that I had no inkling would ever get a linux port and bought them on windows. Had I known, I would have waited and given Feral my money.Yep! Or give a headstart for the guessing game that many seems to like and, a week or 2 later, reveal the solution to the enigma.
Feral, if you're reading this, please reconsider your PR strategy.

Square Enix... Just Cause 3? That would be nice! Please Feral, put this one on your "To Do" list.

Quoting: wvstolzingYep! That's why I wrote IF. Sometimes, consequences are hard to predict.Quoting: MohandevirNot against that idea if it helps AAA studios to consider à Linux release.Me neither; though one thing to keep in mind is that without almost complete feature & performance parity with windoze, Linux-only sales would end up generating quite a bit of resentment. Nowadays, Windows licences are nowhere as expensive as they used to be; if you're a student (at least in the US), they push the damn thing on you for free anyhow (that's how I got my several perpetual [not tied to student status; valid after graduation] licenses); and people getting their windoze pcs pre-built don't even realize that they're paying for the OEM license -- that being the case, being platform-locked *on the same hardware* that could run *the same game* better at little to no extra cost would be perceived as a pretty unfair deal, by someone who isn't already a Linux user/supporter for gaming-independent reasons.

Quoting: sbolokanovGot no problem with that, your motives are your own, but when compared to all the games I played exclusively on Linux/SteamOS, since 2012, The Witcher 3 is the best game I ever played, by far. Just sad that I had to reinstall a Win7 drive to play it. Thing is, after having played my preferred games a couple of times each, and since I'm using my computer mainly for gaming, my rig was beginning to collect dust, at this point. I really like Shadow of Mordor, Mad Max, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, The Metros and Bioshock Infinite but at some point, it's not enough anymore.Quoting: MohandevirProbably. I wasn't serious at all as all of us should be. Afterall, it's just gaming.Yeah, yeah. I know.
But one can't say that we don't want to. Though I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't buy a Witcher 3 port, just out of boycott.

Quoting: KimyrielleSafer bet lies in Codemasters, 2K Games, Sega, Square Enix and (maybe) Warner Bros. Did I forget other AAA studios? The fact that WB didn't release Shadow of War on Linux and never mentionned it makes me doubt about their futur intentions. Even if Before the Storm seems rock solid, could it be?Quoting: Avehicle7887I highly doubt Skyrim would come to Linux like this. Bethesda and id Software are beer buddies, we'd probably see Doom and Wolfenstein before arrows start hitting the knee.ID Software moved away from Linux a while ago. I don't think their interest in Linux is any greater than Bethesda's itself, these days. And Beth's reluctance to release their games on our platform is of a borderline religious nature. Some of their games run pretty well in WINE and probably could be ported with minimal effort, but I think Beth needs a new CEO before they will consider it.
My Guess is: A game by a company that has already worked with Feral before, take your pick.

This said, Square Enix title is a safe bet. It's probably one of the few AAA studios (besides Valve) that still publish games on Linux. So we have Rise of the Tomb Raider and Before the Storm on the Feral radar.

Quoting: sbolokanovDon't be ridiculous, Witcher 3 is long past the point of being made for Linux.Probably. I wasn't serious at all as all of us should be. Afterall, it's just gaming.
Before the Storm sounds just about right.

Quoting: SamsaiWhy are we even discussing this? It's pretty obvious it's Half-Life 3.You just cannot claim it's Half Life 3 whithout actual facts... Even if they are distorted just like in my demonstration. It's just plain fun to try and link any annoucements to one game, no matter how plausible it is. :)

Quoting: qptain NemoOk, so apparently "it's just a shot away" is a line from Rolling Stones's song Gimme Shelter. The lyrics contain the line "Oh, a storm is threat'ning"Mmmm... Let's see what I can come up with that... The last quest for Act 1 in The Witcher 3 is "Calm before the Storm". "It's just a shot away" from when things starts to get interresting. LoL!
