Galaxy works on Linux with Wine too, has done for ages. But, Heroic Games Launcher also supports GOG too, and if memory serves works with cloud saves nowadays too.

Ha, my first question was, "GOG has cloud saves?" For the most part, the games I have through GOG don't seem like they would even support it.

I think it depends on whether the developer has enabled it or not in the game. There's probably a lot of games that don't use cloud saves on Steam (I've seen some games in my library that don't use cloud saves) but you're more likely to see most of the modern releases having cloud saves.

This Zotac handheld is about as close as you can make it look like a Steam Deck but even then, it runs Windows 11 and cost $800. I'm glad I don't fall into the temptation of buying any of these newer devices since the Steam Deck still does a pretty good job of playing most of the games I'm interested in.

It sounds like MSI is pulling a Ayaneo and GPD at the rate this is going and if this one doesn't take off, will either have a V3 or they'll pull out of the handheld market.

The biggest ding on this device is that it's not using a OLED screen and sticking to the same one as the previous model. Also, they opted to use USB4 instead of their proprietary connector for the eGPU, which is nice but should've used OCuLink instead.

Sure, the 24GB of RAM and larger battery sounds nice but since it's still stuck on Windows 11, I'll pass on this until they get dirt cheap so that I can put Bazzite, ChimeraOS or Nobara on it.

Such an awesome device and I'm glad it's getting more and more people into Linux. It's about time people start moving away from Windows and it's terrible changes they're doing lately with adding AI and ads in their OS.

This is one of the several reasons why I despise Kickstarter projects like this because they try to promise something but cancel it at the last minute due to reasons. In the case of this project, the developer should've known that macOS and Linux don't have larger player bases like Windows and shouldn't have offered those versions if they've never done it before.

Now, if EA can continue to get rid of their crappy launcher in a bunch of their other games that use it, that would be great. Also, if can also get rid of their crappy anti-cheat and make their games playable again on Steam Deck/Linux, then they can take my money again.

Reading all of this makes me reminisce about the good old days when you got the complete games on cartridge/CD/DVD and not having to think about DRMs existence on consoles.

Anti-cheat is supported on the Steam Deck but many game companies want to use their tools that are kernel based, which doesn't work on Linux. Steam Deck support EAC and BattlEye anti-cheat software but not every game company uses it though.

I already know this. I wasn't into the details of how it was or should be supported. They should enable ac proton support. That's what I meant. Sorry if it wasn't clear enough.
