Giant treeeeees!!!

But they are really starting to add more and more game-play features now. Still a bit tech-demoish, but they are getting there :)

Hi Julius,

Looks like it's an AppImage. So you would need to install the AppImage service in Manjaro:
sudo pacman -S appimagelauncher

and launch it.

Enjoy!
Hmm, that doesn't seem to be the case either. In fact it does seem to be some sort of installation script after all.

Steam Link app now available for the Linux desktop

Quoting: slaapliedjeWhat ties it to the Pi? (asking as I don't know) as it's just an armhf .deb package. I don't know why you couldn't set it up on any debian based distro on something that supports armhf packages.
People tried it before, but it doesn't work. It actually seems to check for some OS specific things and if you spoof these it fails with a very specific issue related to the highly uncommon GPU utilized in the RasberryPI type SBCs.

There is probably some sort of technical reason (likely a short-cut), but with Collaboras support this could definitely be solved I think.

Quoting: wvstolzingDoes the Raspberry Pi 4 run arm64 binaries? Maybe they'll release an update for the Rpi version (I mean this: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6153-IFGH-6589 [External Link] ) eventually.
The RPI4 hardware yes, but I think the app only works with Rasbian which last time I checked was still 32bit only. Also for some strange reason the Steamlink app for the RasberryPi depends of some specific code from the RasberryPI GPU driver and refuses to work on any non-Rasberry hardware because of that.

Finally!

Edit: arg, seems like x86_64 only. Why Valve? Why? We were able to run a normal Steam Linux client on x86 before :( What is really missing is an Arm64 build of the steam-link :(

The RasberryPI version uses some specific features of the uncommon RPI GPU hence apparently it is difficult to port, but if they actually made a Tizen version (which is fairly similar to regular Linux), then there should be really no reason why there could not be a general version for ARM SBCs running Armbian or such :(

Come on Valve, just open-source the damn thing!

Somewhat OT: http://www.wings3d.com/ [External Link] is still a cool open source modeling app that is a bit easier to get into than Blender3d (Although Blender got a loooot better in recent years, it is just a super powerful and complex software).

Also interesting: https://dust3d.org/ [External Link] although I did not try it extensively yet.

Steam Link is supported by Valve across Windows, iOS, Android, or a Raspberry Pi
It is also supported on Samsung Tizen TV and Android TV, maybe others also, idk.
Oh Tizen as well? Didn't know that. That makes it even more annoying that there is no regular Linux version, as AFAIK the Tizen version should not be so different from one.
