Quoting: Avehicle7887I wonder what's up with the GOG releases being Windows only.
If I had a nickel for every time I've seen someone say that . . . I wouldn't have much money, but it would be a pocketful of change.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyBig deal. Those are mature apps where I don't care about the version. Not like they're using old Libreoffice or GIMP or something.
Well, for me, the Celluloid downgrade is kind of a big deal!
Fair enough. Different use cases are different--I just play videos with it, and it's been able to do that for a while.

Quoting: dziadulewiczOh dear, then there is this:

In an unexpected move, Linux Mint 22 downgrades some of its preinstalled apps to older versions — not something most of us would expect when installing a newer version of a Linux distribution!

Why has this happened?

Many of the latest versions of these apps adopt GTK4/libadwaita for their UI, which Linux Mint dislikes, feeling it impacts the look, feel, and integration of apps with the rest of the non-GNOME desktops like Cinnamon – they stand out like a sore thumb, basically.

As a result, many apps have been downgraded to older GTK3 builds.

I was worried about this, then I checked the link and looked through until I found that bit, and
Apps downgraded to older versions (than the ones present in the Ubuntu 24.04 repos) include Celluloid, GNOME Calculator, Simple Scan, Disk Usage Analyser, System Monitor, GNOME Calendar, and the archive extraction/compression tool File Roller.
Big deal. Those are mature apps where I don't care about the version. Not like they're using old Libreoffice or GIMP or something.

This looks pretty neat. Not quite sure if it's my thing exactly, but it may be; definitely thinking of giving it a try.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI really like the look of this but I'm not sure I could play it. Seeing all the stuff bouncing around, maybe falling off, maybe getting damaged, just makes me wince. Especially the piano! I kept going AAAGGHH that poor piano noooo!
Well, then YOU can do a better job driving. No seriously, you can presumably go extremely slowly to give this piano the safe run it deserves. 😁
Also wondering if anyone in this game has heard of tying things down.

I don't know why, but something about the tone of that quote makes it feel like the DLC was written by people who have never been to England. Hope I'm wrong.

Those graphics are not good. Meanwhile, it looks like an interesting level of complexity, but maybe too high to really use in real time with fights as big as some of the fights in the trailer are. So I dunno, I'd want to wait and see what people who play it think.

Quoting: PenglingTo be fair, "immersive" doesn't equate to "realistic"; Though I'm not sure if this particular game would provide that for me personally (I'm not into RPGs), something fantastical and whimsical can easily be immersive and absorbing.
You're right, "immersive" means that you can picture yourself as being the character you're playing.
I don't think that's the only reasonable way to construe "immersive". Arguably, "immersive" could also mean the game gives an experience that can absorb you for some time in the game world, making you forget the outside world. This might not require picturing yourself as the character. So for instance, if a game has a good deal of content and texture that interests you, along with play that engages you, you could become "immersed" in the game even if there is no "character you're playing". I find Civilization immersive, but not because I'm picturing myself as being Rome.
