Ty the Tasmanian Tiger may come to Linux and Mac depending on Windows sales

"It's something we'll be looking at depending on the windows sales."

I've always felt a little confused about statement like this. I mean a great majority of linux games, are games with rather small/modest sales overall and there are plenty of linux titles with relatively tiny sales numbers for windows & linux alike. On the other hand, there's a large number of "Super Sellers" for windows, where a linux version has never been up for consideration at all and any request is met with the "cold shoulder".

So obviously "lots of windows sales" is not an argument for a linux version. Sometimes I almost get the reverse impression, that the more poorly a game sells for windows the greater is the chance for a linux version

Looks like Darkest Dungeon may finally release for Linux next week

Quoting: soulsourceIsn't Sunless Sea already available? It was part of some Humble Indie Bundle iirc, and it shows in my Steam Library under Linux&Steam OS.
Well, yeah it's available. However : "we still have some work to do to support Steam OS before we can tick the little box that says 'Linux and Steam OS'. From the store page it won't look like we are officially supporting Linux, but the build is in fact official."

The build is "official", or so they say. But I've been hesitant whether Steam considers it so be Officially On Linux/A Linux Sale before they actually do tick that little box with the SteamOS/Linux symbol. So I've held off on buying it until that happens

Sweet! It's about time and with any luck "Stasis" and the official release of "Sunless Sea" will happen sometime in the same neighborhood.

This trio of games have sounded like the linux release is only hours away, for quite a while now.

(and of course "BG: Siege of Dragonspear" hopefully arrives on the 31:st, next week might be a great one) <3

Wine staging 1.9.6 adds Vulkan support and disables CSMT

"Whatever you think about Wine, you have to admit it's technically quite brilliant, and great for games that will never come to Linux"

Personally, I wish that more games would "come to Linux" because of Wine. There are already a number of titles on steam that have released a linux version that is "running on wine", instead of being a true port. I don't see why all the developers who say things like like: "-Sorry guys, but due to troublesome middleware and yada-yada there will be no Linux-version!" couldn't try a wine-dependent release instead.

It's at least better than no release for linux at all...or?

Stardew Valley developer says Linux is a top priority, woohoo

I used to play Sim-games back when Maxis was still an independent company, SimFarm/Ant/Isle/Tower/Earth and so on. But then my interest declined for some reason and it might be high time to rekindle it. This title does look rather charming, I'll give it a Day01-chanse. ;-)

Life Is Strange looks like it's being ported to Linux by Feral Interactive

Quoting: legluondunetFrom people I've talked to who have played it and otherwise liked it, the main criticism has been to do with the ending and the perpetuation of the...
For me my big issue with the game: WARNING Mega-Spoiler ahead...
Spoiler, click me
was not Max "superpower" in itself, but rather that everyone suddenly decided that it was a "Karma Power", and that saving one persons life would apparently cause an inevitable/unavoidable weather-phenomenon, that would wipe out an entire town of people as some sort of "karma-retaliation", kind of like a different version of the "Final Destination"-series of movies where Death hunts everyone that survives an accident
.

At that point, I lost my connection to the story and the whole thing just felt like a "writers-failure" to me.

Quoting: legluondunetThis game looks very interesting. Someone tested it?
I played through it.

Loved the environments and the intentional "Twin Peaks" feel, of the small american town where it takes place, it also has some interesting characters (some find them "compelling & engaging" others find them "corny").

As for the story, I think it started out very interesting but it became weaker towards the end. The whole thing took a bit of a philosophical turn, that I found to be rather weakly plotted and ill considered. The gameplay itself was rather standard fare, not complex like the more classical adventure titles but not quite as ultra-simplistic as the Telltale games.

All in all, even though I was unhappy with how the story evolved in the later chapters, I thought it was a very well made game and definitely worth playing.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered will not be on Linux at launch

Bloody annoying, I am really looking forward to playing this again. Guess there's nothing to do but wait, the whole "buy the PC version now..." bit, was quite an unintentional slap in the face.

Quoting: subOh boy, how I love that game.
However, that remastered version does not appeal to me.
IMHO it looks ugly compared to the original version.
Well, at least I think you had the option of switching back and forth between classic & "modern" look, in the same style as the Monkey Island remakes. (2 more titles that *really* should be ported over)

GOL Asks: What have you been playing recently?
16 Mar 2016 at 1:48 pm UTC

After XCOM2, I played through "Batman: Arkham Knight"...on windows. Disappointing, since I had held off on playing, waiting for the Linux version to be announced. Still, I felt this was actually the weakest game in the series as far as story & interesting villain antics were concerned. So...maybe not such a big loss for Linux after all.

Right now I'm playing "Dying Light: The Following". THIS, is how a dlc/expansion should be made, tons of quests, huge area to move around and a fairly decent main-story to boot.

Obsidian and Paradox team up for new RPG called Tyranny and it's coming to Linux

This is an insta-buy for me! It swept right up my steam-wishlist of 90+ titles, to take 3:rd position.

Personally, I'm hoping for either RT or more RTwP combat, since there are already so many turn-based linux titles out there. Not that I'd mind an Obsidian game with tb-combat, but I do like my variety. ;-)
