To be honest I hope they optimise the **** out of their Vulkan render to show DX12 up :D

No qualms in waiting for the Linux port if that's what they do!

Stellaris MegaCorp expansion and the 2.2 'Le Guin' free update are now both out

Well to give an update after having a good few hours in 2.2.

I've gone back to the 2.1 Niven version. There's just too much to worry about when you expand, The sector changes are just plain daft as the rulers don't actually seem to help with the balancing of the planets. You can no longer group sectors from what I can see either, Have over 30 now as seems random oh how it decides what's grouped with what.

Productions in general can swing from +400 to -1000 in a month, and no it's not due to edicts that have expired
Having to manage pops on 3,4,5 planets isn't a problem, when you have 40 odd + it just get plain boring/frustrating.

Some changes are for the better I admit but on the whole when deep into a game it becomes a chore. I dare say a few players like it but for me it's taken the fun out of it now which defeats the point of playing a game in the first place

Gave this a go last night. To be honest the changes are for the better. The biggest change is to planet/pops. Takes a little to get your head round but it seems to work better.

Not that far into the new game I started to play last night so there maybe other changes that it's done that am no aware of yet.

There is the annoyance of Robot/Mechanical races now needing food for some reason

@Samsai When we all having a go again ?

Egosoft to launch X4: Foundations on November 30th, hopefully with a Linux beta build

Eagerly waiting too

Nothing imminent. I think in the past the Linux versions of X games came out several months after initial launch, usually benefitting from all the bug fixes and tweaking of the Windows version. Sadly, the Windows version doesn't work with Steam Play, which is surprising as the Windows version works via Vulkan.

Seem to remember Rebirth being a day one

Valve have some serious competition, with the Epic Games Store being announced

Quoting: liamdaweI think people need to look outside the bubble for a moment. Look at what happened with Steam, we didn't think it was really coming and it eventually did. At that time, Valve also had nothing on Linux.

Why are people instantly counting Epic out, when the situation is the same? Like I said in the article, there's no other "open" platform left - it's got to be Linux.

Not read all the post so forgive if already been pointed out.

I give some reasons why some are counting them out(Me included)

I remember this game called UnrealTounament 3 that we were apparently getting on our platform! Am still waiting despite Ryan had finished the port, yes I was one of those fools that had bought it too.

There Unrealengine which is now usable on linux mostly down to the community still has no launcher/store UI

Then there's what appears to be their most successfully game to date, Forteninght! and guess what, no linux client.

So liam you can understand why most are writing them off.

But lets be real here, it's well known that Epic is near as damnit a MS studio and has for a number of years.

Hope am wrong and they do support linux but I'll not hold my breath!
