Eagerly waiting too

Nothing imminent. I think in the past the Linux versions of X games came out several months after initial launch, usually benefitting from all the bug fixes and tweaking of the Windows version. Sadly, the Windows version doesn't work with Steam Play, which is surprising as the Windows version works via Vulkan.

Seem to remember Rebirth being a day one

Valve have some serious competition, with the Epic Games Store being announced

Quoting: liamdaweI think people need to look outside the bubble for a moment. Look at what happened with Steam, we didn't think it was really coming and it eventually did. At that time, Valve also had nothing on Linux.

Why are people instantly counting Epic out, when the situation is the same? Like I said in the article, there's no other "open" platform left - it's got to be Linux.

Not read all the post so forgive if already been pointed out.

I give some reasons why some are counting them out(Me included)

I remember this game called UnrealTounament 3 that we were apparently getting on our platform! Am still waiting despite Ryan had finished the port, yes I was one of those fools that had bought it too.

There Unrealengine which is now usable on linux mostly down to the community still has no launcher/store UI

Then there's what appears to be their most successfully game to date, Forteninght! and guess what, no linux client.

So liam you can understand why most are writing them off.

But lets be real here, it's well known that Epic is near as damnit a MS studio and has for a number of years.

Hope am wrong and they do support linux but I'll not hold my breath!

QuoteI'm pretty happy to wait and see how Intel's new GPU turns out first.

You're going to be waiting a while :P

Just go get a AMD card!

Doesn't sound like it's coming any time soon. :-|

Well, if their Linux dev is still the same guy they hired prior to Albion Prelude, you don't have to worry, he's really good.

Is that Timmo ?

Wonder if this one works on AMD
Both versions are working for me with Mesa, but only GL mode. In Vulkan mode the benchmark also works, but the screen is filled with red artifacts.

I should have stated in vulkan.

Going on the reddit thread it still don't so I'll no waist my time with it

Feral Interactive are teasing a new Linux port, time to start guessing

Quoting: rustybroomhandleIf it is Shadow of the Tomb Raider, they better reveal it soon because they are losing sales in droves to Steam Play.

This is why Wine/Steam play is a double edged sword.

Wine has it's place for older unsupported software but I get the feeling that devs will make their game work in steamplay and claim Linux support. Which in turn will hit devs like Ferral as they will be deemed unneeded.

I still wont by a game even if it does work in wine/steam play well, the old saying "No tux NO bucks!"

Quoting: pete910But I will answer, Having children is only relevant to ourselves, so yes in the eyes of the world/corporations it makes no difference what you or I, the guy down the street does . That is what I am getting at.
And that's where you were wrong in the first place and you were being a jackass to the person saying that those pre-req were steep by saying and I quote "in what world is a 970 a steep ask", if you don't want folks to give you a public buttslap maybe don't be so dismissive and diminishing to your fellow humans.

TL : DR if you don't want to be ripped appart all jaws out , maybe don't bite .

Wind ya neck in !
Please tell how was I wrong? The i5 which is stated as minimum even lost to AMD's bulldozer line in some benches so to say it's in the high end/super computer class is plain wrong.

How was I being "dismissive" ? You assumed I had not done my part financially to support my children as to fund my computers! In essence you was being a assumptive know all.

So to quote "stop being a dismissive and diminishing jackass"
I litteraly quoted precisely where you were being dismissive and have putten your own words in bold ...
So on the block list you go

Lol
