Paradox launch a DLC subscription option for Hearts of Iron IV

I love some of Paradox's games, but I always found their business model deplorable. They spew out mostly low quality to mediocre DLC's that occasionally break their games and rarely justify the price tag. There is a reason most of them have mixed to bad reviews on Steam. And on they introduce an overpriced DLC subscription. I mean, I can't even...
Like ALL game publishers, the more successful they've become, the more user unfriendly they turned. Many, many years ago, EA used to be the likeable underdog, too...

Heroic Games Launcher for Epic Games on Linux gets some more fixes

PS If they manage to integrate GOG in a way I can run the Windows versions of games to get my cloud saves and achievements, this will officially be the best launcher in history :)

Quoting: anewsonperhaps unpopular opinion: Heroic is currently the best of the Linux community game managers. It did it for me in a way that Lutris has not. I've been using Heroic for a few freebie games from EGS and the experience has been as smooth as with Steam+Proton, with a cleaner UI.Not at all. I appreciate the work that went into Lutris, but it's clunky AF. I love how simple and user friendly Heroic is. It's so polished that if I did not know otherwise, I'd think it's the official Epic client for Linux. Flavio should really apply for an Epic grant. I mean, even has features that the original Epic launcher doesn't have, like adding an already installed game to the library. The official solution offered by Epic for their launcher is equal parts pathetic and depressing. Anyway, with Herois the Epic store is a completely viable place to buy games, even on Linux. While, I haven't tested is that extensively, the only game that did work out of the box for me was the Epic version of Salt & Sactuary (got the freebie), which seems to be a pita to run via Wine. If I ever get to playing it, I'll probably just boot up Windows or buy the Linux version of Steam.

Oh, come on. Did you just blame Epic for GOG's troubles? Liam, please :D... As somebody who uses both Windows and Linux, I can tell you that the vast majority of Windows gamers can't be bothered to use a different store. They'd only go out of their way if the game they want is not available on Steam and is confirmed to not come. GOG and by extension - GOG Galaxy, offers a better experience on Windows than Steam. Nobody gives a flying F, sadly. If the Epic Game store disappeared tomorrow, GOG would still be in trouble.

Yet another badly received DHL, it seems, judging by the Steam reviews.

I think their statement very clearly shows why Epic (correctly) chose to make this opt-in.

Developer of the cosmic-horror RPG 'Death Trash' shows off some sales per-platform

Don't get me wrong - I am not disagreeing with you. My problem is with the community's attitude in general. It's either: "Why don't you develop a native version - everybody on Linux would buy it?", or: "We're 1% of the market - of course you get around only ~1% of sales on Linux". Damned if you do, damned if you don't...

Quoting: PublicNuisanceThis is the correct reason to make Linux games. I don't really understand when some developers make a game for a platform that is around 1% of the PC gaming market and then get shocked when we are aren't more than about 1% of their sales. These guys get it, it's about the love of the platform or just simply wanting more people to play your game.Ok, but then when a developer declares they are not developing a native version of their game for Linux, everybody starts complaining how underappreciated the Linux market is and how, supposedly, everybody on Linux would totally buy said game and somehow the entirety of the overall 1% of the Linux segment of the market would be a customer. Then time and time again, when developers actually share sales data, we see it being anywhere between little under 1% to maybe 2% (I think I saw 3%, once), with a definite co-relation between how popular the game is and how small the % of Linux gamers playing is (e.g. the more popular the game the lower % the Linux gamers are).

Quoting: dziadulewiczAll the drawback of Solus' Mac-like approach, without the optimization, rolling release convenience and consistent, fleshed out desktop environment. I tried liking elementary over the years, but eventually gave up on it. I see not much has changed.Quoting: LinuxerI tried it and elementary OS is still VERY patronizing and limited. "Non-curated app" and threatning "untrusted app" (even with VLC media player) bubbles with long running software, are like... WHAT.eOS is very unpolished and too much towards control. User can't do much easily!
Not recommended. This distro is non sense?

Extra points for adding AMD FSR and Sharpness options. I'm curious, though - to these work with Nvidia cards on Linux? Also, why has the developer still not applied for an Epic grant? Seriously...

Pretty sure their original review of the Steam Controller, was something on the lines of: "I used it for 20 minutes, didn't feel like an Xbox controller, so I am reporting that it sucks". It's the sort of "quality" and "journalistic integrity" we've come to see from IGN. I expect nothing less of them... because they're already scraping the very bottom.
