Quoting: TheBossBecause I wanted for kodi to be added as a launcher in there. Anyway, I'm happy you like it but imo it's crap. Ubuntu is a much better solution. In the end I just boot in ubuntu with kodi for movies and a modded Windows will solve my streaming problems (that one's on AMD though).Quoting: maodzedunI agree with him. What IS the point is SteamOS? It's terrible. I made a media box with kodi for my father and I initially tried SteamOS - big mistake. Ended up installing Ubuntu and I'll probably put a Windows for good measure, as well, because streaming to a Linux pc with AMD card is a pain. So yeah - what is the point. How many of you use it? An OS that gives you all of the quirks but non of the perks of Linux. No thank you.Why would you put SteamOS on to be a media box? It's a STEAM gaming platform, your own fault for not using it for what it was designed for.
Works perfectly for me as a gaming system hooked to my TV for use across the room. You know, what it was designed for.

With the terrible performance of Attila - is it even worth it?

Happy New Year, everybody. May we all be healthy and AMD finally bring us decent drivers (and crossfire support) :))).
Ori and the Blind Forest won't come to Linux for now, thanks to Microsoft

Quoting: NyapI personally think that this news is good ~ I came to linux for privacy. By attracting attention, and making more people use linux, we are making it more vulnerable from government wishes to implement backdoors. Then I think FreeBSD might be a more appropriate choice for you. Also what are you doing at a Linux gaming site? Most games require you to share at least some personal data to at least buy them.

And on goes the parade of non-developers who seem to know better than professional game creators. Anyway, it's a sad news. I guess that eON is the only viable solution to the problem (maybe).
Steam is having a whopper of a sale right now

The sales have less and less effect on me. I find myself less excited about them as I've often bought the games I wanted, already. I mostly use them for buying useless DLCs like Paradox content packs - sprites, music, etc. Still, I'll probably end up buying something.

Maybe they are just hiring somebody to fiddle around and give them an estimate (quote if you're British :P) on how much time and manpower it would take. Then they can decide whether or not to actually begin the process of porting and at what pace. So, my guess is that programmer will basically be the guy that tells you how much fixing your roof would cost and not the one the actually does it.
Also, don't forget they probably want to have at least a very, very, very rough idea of performance. While in general, the game is not that taxing on Windows, because it's just little dots on a black background for the most of it, scenes with a high number of ships can in fact tank the FPS quite a bit.

As somebody who played the game on Windows about an year ago, I want to point out the engine is horrible. I'm sure some of the issues are port related, but the fact is on a 290x I got drops in the 30s at 1080p. It is a very, very badly optimized game to begin with, which is actually true for The Third, as well (considering it's more or less the exact same game, visual wise). So, I'm not surprised - add the normal performance drop from the porting to an already badly running game and... yeah. Still, I wish they'd port SR3 - it's us much more fun than 4. Maybe it's better when you try it without ever having played the previous one, IDK.
