In the options where you configure your controller. I have steamOS + steam controller and this is what showed up for me.
However, I think it is just an image replacement for generic controllers, since one can not see (or configure) the buttons under the controller (the ones to the battery shaft).

Now that is something I've seen for the fist time, it is unexpected and very much appreciated ^_^
no joystick dead-zone overrides or the (X) in the middle, but a real steam controller setup, nice. if someone knows: did feral do this or the game devs?

phew, it is very hard. the port works flawlessly, all ultra settings on 8GB ram + GTX950, even MSAA 8x.
Sadly the vibrations or force-feedback do not work with the steam controller. I can't feel anything, no triggers or rumble emulation. anyway, my car usually barely makes it to the finish, with damage >80% lol

well, I seem to have a different view on CSGO, unlike most people here.
first of all: it runs fast like hell. I have no game that runs that good as CSGO does. besides that valve-typical sound-stutter when you click some stuff (like making a match selection, or changing some settings), it runs smoothly in any way.
I use it with steam controller and I am surprisingly good, mostly within the top players on public servers, not even that rarely on #1 with most points/kills/assists. Can't believe it myself, although I am surely not talking about ESL like skills, I just play this for fun on my TV and kick ass pretty much often.
Crashes? Maybe one in a week, having several hours of gameplay. Mostly it just returns to the big picture mode. I am playing this on steamOS.
Cheaters? zero. can't say that I have ever ever seen one. I don't even know about VAC not being available.
Sound is 5.1, works superb, even the music volume levels some complain about.
But yes, there is one issue: I have the distinct feeling that valve puts low priority on this game with linux or at least steamOS. There are bugs I can't remember right now, that are related to steamOS<>controller<>CSGO, which is surprising to me, since this game is known to work better by fps on Linux than on any other OS, including windows. Honestly, I am a little afraid that this source2-port or any work with vulkan won't see a day1 release on linux.

this is a tough one, he has 4 guards and you will want the silent-assassin reward for some extras.
has anyone successful tactics on this? I am trying to clean-sweep the first floor in the main building and then to lure his escorts one by one into the bathroom to silently kill them. but this takes ages, as one can pacify just one escort at a time and it takes several minutes until they come along again.

When I wanted to buy hitman, I read about release notes to that day, especially when I hit a bug in some contracts, where some events were not triggered properly. Then I found a release-notes-history, similar to this: https://hitman.com/updates/february-update-1-9-1 [External Link]
it mentions version 1.9.1 ..my hitman copy said version 1.01, this lead me to believe that there was no up2date version in use for the port and that I was basically dealing with an old hitman version. Having the "elusive targets"-contracts still available lead me to thinking of precisely that, that these missions were added in a plugin-style way, just like additional files in contract-directories. I did not say that I know how it is done, it was just an assumption, since I thought my old 1.01 copy has the newest contracts, while thinking none of the changes from 1.01->1.9.1 were committed into my release.

all that text read, I saw it today for the first time mentioned, that hitman for linux 1.00 included all the previous updates from the windows release, which was mentioned here http://steamcommunity.com/app/236870/discussions/1/135511757693702225/ [External Link] for the first time (I never heard of that merge before), and this posting is as I mentioned, one day old at the time of this posting.
I am very glad to learn that hitman-linux is the same as the other releases - I never had doubt in feral (otherwise I would not own almost all of their ports), it is just kind of weird to see that platform list with no word about linux, you can't surely tell me that you do not feel a little bit odd about this as well as I do.

Quoting: liamdawebut feral surely received the changes committed for those updates by SE to compile them into an update, I doubt feral is maintaining and selling hitman completely on their own, so I guess there is some communication. If I was working for feral then I'd expect from SE to be involved into the (update-)releases to some high degree, to maintain same versions for everyone.Quoting: miro@edddeduck_feralI can't speak for anyone but myself here, but the original news post is from a completely different team, they don't speak for Feral. Feral tend to announce everything they're doing themselves, since they develop and publish their Linux ports directly.
then how come that just PC or at least "Linux" or specifically steamOS is not listed in that update? Does SE care that less or what is it?
Quoting: liamdawethat assumption had a reason, let me explain why.Quoting: miroI noticed the elusive targets, it's just that from a dev-view I think there are things like these targets that can be added without modifications to the app itself, like a plugin or simple additional files in some elusive-targets-directory.You're making a lot of assumptions about code you know nothing about, it's likely nothing close to being simple like you imagine. You have no idea what they're changing and Feral have to keep up with the work done on it, and so far have done.
I really don't get all the doom and gloom.

then how come that just PC or at least "Linux" or specifically steamOS is not listed in that update? Does SE care that less or what is it?
Also I am not sure about the latest state of my hitman copy, since for example I see no option in the launcher to disable the graphics-autoconfig (which restricts some detail levels above some point).
The version history stated that this feature was added into the launcher in some later release and I believe that my launcher said to be 1.01 or something. I can't tell any more, since I disabled the launcher and I see no way to enable it again. Even with simulation CRTL with my steam controller (some people say one has to hold it while the game is launching), the launcher does not show up for me.
Regarding your link at http://steamcommunity.com/app/236870/discussions/1/135511757693702225/ [External Link]
I read that discussions section at steam, but this posting was not there at that time. Because I saw an update for hitman on news sites, and no mention to linux.
And for the first time I see that you obviously reset the version count to 1.00, so all the previous updates were included and this caused confusion on my side, thinking that your 1.00 is in fact the windows-1.00
So I wonder: why did SE not append Linux to the platform-list as well? Couldn't they wait for you to add the changes?
My last sentence you picked up as exaggerated was meant even in that way, that this update is there now, but they do not consider it "major enough" to mention it.

I am a little concerned about that, and I am not talking about deus ex itself, but about the fact that this DLC needed a "port" at all, or even additional work by feral.
also, since we are with the same publisher:
https://hitman.com/en-us/news/march-update-release-notes# [External Link]
it says:The HITMAN March Update releases worldwide across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on March 14th 2017.
this also applies for previous updates (they release updates every 4 weeks). honestly, I have no idea how old my copy of hitman is in steamOS.
so what does this mean? that feral has work to do again, just for us to have the latest content/updates available? makes me feel like a sad 2nd class gamer again. all major platforms are supported here in that statement, linux is not, so ...well. not major, okay, but kinda abandoned.

Editorial: On paying for Linux games when you already have a Windows version

hm well, I don't like it. see it from the view of a typical microsoft games customer, and there are plenty with xbox:
you own GTA 5 for xbox 360, okay. you paid your 50€.
got a xbox one? fine. you have to purchase it again. another 50€.
want to play it on PC? sure, just buy yourself a PC version. there goes another 50€.
I have a friend of mine who has done exactly that.
Now, having such a game for e.g. linux or mac and windows, say if there was a port:
I paid once 50€, now I can play it on windows
I can also play it with my steamOS console on TV
I can also play it on linux on my PC/Laptop
I can also play it on a mac, if there is a port and if I had a mac LOL
TCO: 50€ vs. 150€ my friend paid.
I always told him how stupid I think this is, regardless of ms making tons and tons and tons of money with it with people buying and re-buying the same game, just for another platform. there is surely effort behind this, besides optimization for different controllers and adjusting settings and stuff, one may also have understanding for very old titles - but this must not become standard, I do not want to be like that friend of mine, that is one of the main features I enjoy with steam: buy once, play everywhere -and that without subscriptions like xbox live for another 50€ a year (makes a total of 200 btw.)
CDN/internet + your accound provided, you can easily download and play everywhere, as long as the OS is supported.
