Metro Exodus is still planned to release for Linux and macOS
26 Nov 2020 at 4:41 pm UTC

Personally I'm fine with Metro being wrapped in dxvk. Performance should still be faster than Wine as it's bypassing that overhead.

Unfortunately Vulkan Ray Tracing was finished only recently, even worse only Nvidia supports it at the time. So it's understandable devs cannot wait for that feature, goes without saying that the studio has to move on to newer projects in order to survive.

Now that Vulkan has RT, here's hoping the studio will switch to it instead of persisting with DX12, that would be a mistake.

Nice to see it still coming, personally I finished including DLC through Wine, this will be an excuse to re play it.

The game is awesome and worth every penny.

Quoting: ShmerlVery nice. If only they'd be available in stores :)
Seems like the scalpers are already all over ebay, and they're opening the box too.

Much as I want the card, I'm going to wait for proper prices. My only chance of getting one is through e-tailers, Malta is a country of Nvidia fanboys, the shops here barely stock AMD GPUs, sometimes even Ryzens are lacking.

Even more performance from the RX 6800 cards: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=rx6800-more-performance&num=1 [External Link]

I can't wait to get my hands on one of them.

Good good, this means that's 1 less reason for devs to use DX12 and DXR. Convincing them Vulkan is the better option will probably be the hardest part.

8GB is not bad at all, I still do a lot of gaming on a system with this amount. Some titles do use the swap file by a few megs but nothing serious.

What is horrible to see though is that single ram slot on a 1k euro laptop. If I was in the market for a laptop, this certainly wouldn't be it.

The hinge design in the pic doesn't look too bad, and it's easy enough to loosen those hinges should it become tough to open and risking damaging it.

Video playback fixes
I skipped the mfplat report on 5.21, but looks like I'll have a busy day testing tomorrow. I've got a few new additions to the list too.

Also it might be a good time to test some old games with video issues.

Here is your daily dose of not-linux-gaming news
I'd still try to game on it.

I've been experimenting with running Linux on my android phones for a couple of years now. It's not exactly straightforward or easy stuff but a great learning experience. I managed to run normal desktop software such as firefox and such, maybe one day will get 3D acceleration working.

As a reminder to GOG users buying their games:

They still didn't bother to update the outdated GOG Linux version of their previous game 'World to the West'. I've let them know about it and still nothing has been done.
