NVIDIA are teasing something, likely their RTX 40 series GPU (updated)

Too little too late for them to keep me as a customer. My new RX 6600 works fantastically!

I just wish corectrl wouldn't change the fan speed of my case fans as well as the GPU ones. Also, If I let it manage performance, my framerate somehow takes a nosedive despite choosing the high performance profile. But all I really wanted was fan control anyway, so that's no big deal. The fans weren't coming on until 50 degrees Celsius by default; I'd rather have the GPU cooler than that. A little noise doesn't bother me.

I bought the game yesterday, it's currently 75% off on steam, and it's a blast! Finally a racing game I'm not total crap at!

Quoting: hking0036I'm super interested to try One Step From Eden because I LOVED Mega Man Battle Network on GBA! Curious to hear people's thoughts on the Library of Ruina, because from the steam page it looks like quite an interesting game, but it seems like there's a whole lot going on.
Yeah, I've tried playing One Step From Eden (The main reason I bought the bundle), and I'll say this: it is much faster than the MMBN games. I replayed a couple hours BN4 just to make sure I wasn't misremembering things. The enemies attack patterns can lead to some really infuriating deaths unless you have better reflexes than I do. Dodging is impossible in a few cases and I'm honestly a bit grumpy about it.

You can't even read the names of your attacks during battle, you just have those tiny icons!

I've actually been having a lot of fun with Vault of the Void; I hadn't heard of it before. It was a really great surprise! It's sort of a Slay the Spire/Monster Train/Roguebook/Banners of Ruin/Obelisk kitchen sink. It has all those mechanics plus quite a few of its own.

Haven't tried the others yet. I've been using my downtime to clean and organize things. I'll probably update this when I do.

Mojang say no to NFTs and blockchain with Minecraft

Quoting: devlandIn the digital world the rule of law starts with the EULA which is enforced by copyright laws.
Aren't EULAs handled under contract law?
It depends, but as far as contract law goes here in the US, what software companies don't want you to know is that EULAs are by themselves both unenforceable and by-and-large not worth the fonts they're written in. They are no more binding than a handshake until you actually use the product, then it becomes both binding and enforceable by law.

Even then, unreasonable EULAs have been laughed out of courtrooms before. Companies who bury the fine print have found this out the hard way.

Now Service License Agreements and Terms of Service are oftentimes a different matter, as they are legally binding even before you read them in some cases. It's why I tell people to actually read the doggone things! Seriously, don't sign your soul away!

To quote ContractCounsel [External Link]: EULAs are not legally binding. When a consumer agrees to the terms specified in the license agreement, they are actually renting or purchasing a license from the vendor. The downside of a license agreement is that it doesn't protect the consumer. The EULA protects only the copyright owner. In fact, not only does the vendor own the license, but they also legally own any private data that the consumer entered into the software. These software owners can access, read, or share this private consumer data in any way they want.

Gwent requires some fiddling (Like a Windows UA string for playgwent.com) but it galaxy seems to install it fine afterward. I had to install gwent, then redeem the ultimate starter key on Gog though, to avoid a warning about not owning it.

The black screen on launch for folks on lutris doesn't affect me for some reason. (I'm using Wine-GE though, therein might be the difference.)

Really stoked to try One Step from Eden, as the GBA Battle Network games were some of my favorites back in middle/high school. (Particularly BN4: Red Sun/Blue Moon.)

Quoting: Purple Library GuyHmmm . . . where you get into problems with that is that Minecraft is generally not a solo thing, and the use of these NFTs is something that is almost by definition not done by yourself. Further, the use of NFTs in a community setting is almost solely for the purpose of walling off most community members from doing (whatever the NFT does)--the whole point of NFTs is that they are supposedly Non-Fungible, meaning they can be reserved for one person and taken away from everyone else.

Thus you could look at NFTs themselves as going against (0) and (1), and banning them contrariwise as supporting those ideas.
Amen! For once the Great-Windowed-One does something right! Did I just fall into a mirror-universe where Ballmer and his cultists never existed? Nah, no one's that lucky.

Dicey Dungeons 'Reunion' is a huge free update out now

This motivated me to finally finish all the episodes; (Witch Episode 4 is a witch!) that final showdown is epic! Now I just need the hard mode achievements for each bonus round... AAAGH! The 36 normal episodes + the finale took me ~60 hours after discounting a few hours of idle time.

I may just write a guide. That's how much I like this game!

Halloween was a little underwhelming, so I'm glad Reunion really takes things up a notch.

This game is clearly a labor of love, kudos to Mr. Cavanaugh for making and continuing to add to one of the most fun deckbuilder games ever! I'd say it's easily worth another twenty bucks over its asking price!

Here in the Southern US, we usually call 'em winos. People hire them to decorate homes. [External Link]

No Chrome, no Firefox. Only Lynx.
No Steam, no Battle for Wesnoth even. Only various roguelikes, that one economy/war sim whose name I forgot and now this.
The one you're thinking of is probably Arcane Fortune. Plus I thought of various versions of trek, taipan, and dwarf fortress in PRINT:TEXT mode (Handy way to play it over ssh!).

Both games are still my favorites.
How does that boot taste?
Well, to my great uncle during the Battle of the Bulge, I'd say his pretty darn good to him. Here's to the Battered Bastards! ('Course, he was likely joking, as he was good at hunting. I'd say he caught some gamey rabbit or-other that probably tasted about the same though.)

As to Larian's, I dunno. I have yet to play the first one.
