Sometimes I want to fill one out, sometimes I don't / forget. Frankly, I'll probably only fill a select few out in a year's period because that seems more reasonable.
I do feel like the "your system habits" questions could be automated in a user's profile. I don't hop around much to distros anymore, and if I did, it's on a separate computer for testing, not general purpose. If I refill out a survey, I don't want to reselect those same answers.

Oh I remember this developer. Had an issue with pixel collision or something on release and it got fixed pretty quickly after a couple email descriptions. Nice guy and a fun little retro Zelda inspired game. :) I see some really nice potential for a sequel with more content and some additional physics based combat (ie: Link to the Past).
His statement about Mac and Linux ports resemble empathy. Honestly, more people need this in a diverse world, as it's becoming rarer with clashing ideals and culture. That is why I hope gamers/users get their OSX ports as well. I mean, why not? More money for the developer and convenience for the customer.

Nah, I think the real kick in the balls for Linux is that we're not focusing on the augmented reality train. Production tools drive industries. Entertainment is a by-product of that.
Hololens is going to be a gimmick to gamers, but it's a pretty big stepping stone for developers.
VR could be applied to this, maybe, but it probably is going to be unrealistic expectations due to the ever-growing complexity of the hardware. I don't think it will be a short-term fad (still is one, nonetheless), but I can't see it being useful in the real world (aside from training simulators).

We really should stop this stigma that track pads are useless. They're just flawed in their current design (laptops). You can rotate your thumb, to some degree, unlike your other fingers. Think about it, would you just use your index finger (or any other one) for a joystick? Again, it's the same principle, and a missed opportunity no one ever caught on to.
I think the real question is this. Are you physically capable of precise drawing with your thumb (given the right hand held positioning)? That will be key to the success of the peripheral, not the track pads. Layout positioning and thumb dexterity/precision.
If I were to rate the mouse, I would say it has the best dexterity because of hand movement, but I would not consider it best for precision. A drawing tablet wins on that any day.

Quoting: CybaCowboyI'm still not sold on the unique Steam Controller... But I might change my mind once I actually try one (at least, that's what everyone else has said once they've actually tried one). The only criticism I hear is about the track pads because we all hate them for laptops. To be frank, I cannot even consider it valid criticism. Sure we all hate laptop based track pads, but I seriously doubt anyone ever really used their thumb on something like that (not that you physically and practically can with something based on a table/board design).

Quoting: liamdaweIt's nothing to do with that, they just haven't finished the OpenGL system yet, as quoted. Vulkan isn't even finalised or announced as released yet, that and it's not even in any graphics drivers. You're right, it was a baseless assumption. I'll retract it. :)

My suspicion is it is related to Vulkan. I'm not worried unless they announce (or rather denounce) something other than that.
Edit: Baseless assumption, carry on. :)

Quoting: Segata SanshiroHowever, I would love to see companies like Feral and Aspyr do it since they are in the same category as indie developers in the sense that big developers and publishers won't cough up the money if they think there's no "market" for it (see above). I think a lot of Linux gamers would put forward the money since these companies are very trusted names and there wouldn't be as many of the associated risks that come along with crowdfunding.Yes, exactly my thoughts. Even if I was outside the Linux community, it would still be rational to me.
