Sony Is Creating A List Of Crowdfunding Projects To Gauge Interest
18 Jun 2015 at 2:27 pm UTC Likes: 3

Quoting: KeyrockIn the end, Kickstarter still serves the same ultimate purpose, it allows a game to be made that wouldn't have been otherwise. If Shenmue 3 or KC: D don't make their Kickstarter funding goal then their financial backers don't fund the project and the game doesn't get made.
No, if this trend continues, Kickstarter will become the only way to even make a game. Why make a game when you can get paid a grant for the concept and fuck it up with no liability attached? Disgusting. It served its purpose for people who CAN'T afford it (indie), not people who WON'T take the RISK (at this point, why bother having a publisher).

If the well gets poisoned any further, indie games will be shoved to the side and ignored because that next big AAA title everyone else wanted this year. This has nothing to do with Linux, and not a single company is going to start giving a fuck. They didn't before, why would this make them start? The only thing they learned is to become self-aware in acknowledgement (btw you pay for a professional Kickstarter PR spokesperson these days to handle this). One more sucker is one more dollah bill to feed a cracked out whore (SEGA).

Why are we even comparing Feral, Asypr, and the like? They aren't even close to the size of these big corporate wankers.

Kickstarter might as well change their name to "the internet's world bank".

Yeah, it's a good game (and a looker, might I add!). My first impressions of the intro level was meh. When I got past that (it's very brief) it really shined.

XCOM 2 Gameplay Shown During E3, Linux Port Still Really Happening

Quoting: sunbeam4@keizgon "cuphead" was planned for pc with a later mac/linux release [External Link].
Holy shit! I'm stoked now. Thanks. :D

Edit

Um, just saw this though: http://studiomdhr.com/cuphead-coming-in-2016-exclusively-to-xbox-one-and-pc/ [External Link]

The only quote that has me worried is this:

With Microsoft helping us out, we are able to push the art further, refine the mechanics more, and deliver the Cuphead game we’ve always dreamed of. In development, time is our greatest asset, and pushing the release to 2016 allows us to make for the best game possible.
Their presskit says PC & XBone. I just hope this doesn't mean PC = Windows only, because again, Microsoft with Ori and the Blind Forest. I don't care if Microsoft helps them or not, I just hope there isn't some silly contract influences preventing them from releasing a port... Though having said that, we did get some indie games that were originally Microsoft Studio published (ie: Dust and Super Meat Boy) so I hope I'm just being paranoid.

XCOM 2 Gameplay Shown During E3, Linux Port Still Really Happening

I believe X-COM 2, Armikrog (indie claymation game), and Batman: Arkham Knight were the only E3 trailers for Linux planned support games that I know of. Pretty good for our first year, I'd say.

One indie game I noticed though, was Cuphead. It looks exactly like but plays as a hand drawn Disney themed Cartoon from the 1930s (or whenever that was). I hope it gets ported someday. Unless Microsoft snatches them up like Ori and the Blind Forest (Unity game, "can't port it" my ass!).

Edit: Wow, I completely spaced out and forgot to mention Shadow Warrior 2. Make that 4 known titles! :)

Are they even attending E3?

Quoting: leillo1975What's your opinion about this?

Windows and PS4, Mac and Linux not decided. The are using Unreal Engine 4
Are they even an indie company? Weren't they sponsored by Sony at E3? So instead of Sony funding it, here ya go, free money?

As for the opinion on it, well it's kickstarter. We've had failures and successes. This one doesn't outright exclude Linux, but we know it will because the fine print will obviously mislead some people's hopes. Again, it reeks of a Sony advertisement more than anything.
