Victor Vran RPG From The Tropico Developers Released For Linux, Some Initial Thoughts

Fun game. It works very well with my old trusty GTX 660. I would still be playing right now, but my hands were tired. :)

Maybe it's just me, but I've experienced some stuttering even on native games with the Unreal Engine 3 (Borderlands 2, Xcom: Enemy Unknown, etc). I doubt it's my hardware, since I also dual boot into Windows and don't experience the same problem.

The one thing that has helped me some is disabling my second monitor completely when I play. That reduces but does not completely eliminate the stuttering. For Spec Ops, however, it didn't really help much. Disabling ambient occlusion did help a little, though. It's now limited to checkpoint saving / new area loading.

"professional experience testing AAA games" i.e. demonstrate that you're an expert at drinking too much coffee and sitting in one place much longer than you should.

Quoting: valczirUnfortunately, one of the types of hacking mini games (cyberspace?) is still broken on linux (it freezes on a black screen), making it completely unplayable.

The game so far is enjoyable for the most part, but I can't progress very far right now.
Thanks for letting us know. I was considering picking it up, but I was concerned about some of the comments on the Steam forums about it being broken on Linux in the beta stage. It's too bad they didn't fix those issues before releasing.

Linux Drops Below 1% On The Steam Hardware Survey

I dual boot for a few Windows games, and I noticed that it kept asking me to answer the survey when I'd boot into Windows. I kept declining, but when I was in Linux, which is most of the time, it never asked me. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but it is worth noting.

Quoting: fishxzso many ports. im beggining to asking me who will be the last. ea, activision, bethesda or ubisoft :o
Technically, we already have at least one Ubisoft port in Outland, which, unlike other Ubisoft games, doesn't require Uplay. Sometimes it seems like EA barely even supports Windows, and like Ubisoft, we probably won't see their games until there's a port of their wannabe Steam client (Origin). Bethesda? Who knows?

I think Activision Blizzard will be last. The day Call of Duty and WoW players switch to Linux in droves will mark the End of Days. I'm pretty sure that's written in a holy book somewhere.

Anyway, bring on SpecOps!
interesting, because i also think it will be activision blizzard :)
Oops, I have to correct myself. Apparently, Activision is the distributor (not publisher) of Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved, which has a Linux version.

Gabe Newell Takes To Reddit To Answer Questions On Steam Paid Mods
26 Apr 2015 at 12:49 pm UTC Likes: 2

That is exactly my concern. Far too often, mod developers say, "I'm busy with school now, so do whatever you want with this mod." Others just disappear without a word. Valve doesn't seem to have any accountability for them. We already know early access devs can walk away without finishing a game. So too might modders sell mods and then walk away without supporting them.

In the free software community, we tend to place more value on people who actually work to earn their money. Software development doesn't stop when the last line of code is written. Those in favor of paid mods say that they will produce higher quality mods. That may or may not happen. We all know, for example, there is some very good community-supported software out there that rivals any paid software. Like anything, paid mods have their advantages and disadvantages. It's up to the consumers to decide if the good outweighs the bad.

I've started a Kickstarter page to raise money for rum and cake to drown and fatten up Liam. I know he said it wouldn't work, but he inadvertently told us his weaknesses. It's worth a try. :D
