The new Library Mode in Wine manager Bottles looks awesome

Don't they have a built in list of support stuff for easy install? If there is, I cant find it, and I tend to know my way around a program, I am not dumb, yet somehow, Bottles confuses me.
Don't want to manually do stuff, and I don't think I have to, but clearly I am missing something.
Edit: decided to look up a video. Seems I got to create a bottle first and then inside that bottle you can pick a installer.
And getting the configuration page didn't work for me since I ran bottles with "gtk3-nocsd bottles" and this is the first app that has troubles with it.
Ugh, now I gotta look at that ugly Gnome styled interface
At least I figured it all out.

Quoting: benjamimgoisIt looks good ! Maybe its just me, but i always got lost in the bottles UI and config options. Maybe a small video tutorial would make things easy.Same, I tried it multiple times but it's impossible for me to find out how to install Overwatch for example.

Man, I am so tired of the current state of gaming. It's just all so sad.
I miss the days where developers made a game out of love and then released it and word of mouth (and maybe marketing of the budget is there) made the game great and well known.
Alas, pretty much all great studios have been bought and now make generic content. Luckily we still have new indie dev's that still make great games, but most of them aren't my cup of tea (I don't really like 2D games anymore or pixel games, that's in the past for me).
Luckily, I pretty much only play single player games and only ever bought DLC willingly for the Witcher 3 and BioShock Infinite.
Of all the games, only for those 2 games the DLC was worth it for me.
I am glad that for multiplayer I play WoW/Overwatch/FFXIV.
Back in the day, things actually were better.
At least, that is how I feel these days.

Looks like Valve are gearing up for a new 'Deckard' VR Headset

Curious to see the specs on the screen etc.
Very interested in VR since the Oculus announcement, but so far haven't bought anything since it isn't good enough yet visually.
Did try the Index at my cousin, and although fun, the whole cable mess was a downer.
And the Facebook headsets are a no-go obviously.

Weird that it doesn't work as good for you.

Quoting: TheRiddickI am on KDE Plasma (Wayland) and FreeSync works on both my FreeSync capable monitors here. I also have no issues of dropped frames. Perfect experience here with my 5700 XT.Quoting: drjomsWhat scheduler you have?Performance
Freesync is only available on Primary screen. IN saying that freesync is the magic bullet to fix these types of issues and games should still be relatively smooth even without vsync.
Wish amdgpu would introduce fastsync or whatever AMD Utilities has under Windows.
I use ARCH but this list sums up Wayland issue.
It's going to need much more support to become a standard;
I do know there is a selection of blank canvas WM that use wlroots such as Sway and Wayfire but those require HEAVY amount of customisation to become a actually fully fledged usable desktop environment, and even still have lots of missing features. (and aren't stable)

One can only hope they will implement it. I don’t think with FSR 2.0 we can force insert it with proton.

Quoting: dpanterCan't wait to try it, some games implement tragically bad AA.FFXIV is one of those games. I recently unsubbed because the game is too painful to look at. So many jaggies and shimmering. Really ruins my enjoyment of the game.

Intel confirms standalone Arc Graphics due in Q2, also 'Project Endgame' this year

Hopefully this also means GPU prices will eventually be lower. Right now it's pretty expensive.
If Intel really wants to be unique, they should be the first to have a proper GPU Control Panel on Linux. That would give them a massive heads up vs AMD which doesn't even have a control panel and NVIDIA's control panel is very basic and lacking.

Quoting: GuestCan't say Intel is my favorite company, but I definitely welcome more competition into the GPU space.Indeed. I really hope they are successful, and then I can't wait to see what AMD and NVIDIA will do.

For me this is the best version yet.
Wayland is finally stable for me. I can turn my TV on and off during the day and kwin doesn't crash anymore. Finally my session doesn't die everytime I turn my TV on or off.
Also the new open and close animations for windows is very sexy.

But I do think I saw a issue like this before a few months ago. Also a black screen.
Don't we just love the new fancy slow web based user interfaces?

Quoting: SolitaryAnyone thinking about using current beta client should be careful as it currently has nasty issue on certain distributions where the client only renders black content and buttons don't really work. Check issue link for possible workaround or stay on stable version.Strange, I am on the latest beta and no issues here (Arch).

I also was frustrated that I was unable to change the shadow radius, seems that is hardcoded in mutter. Cinnamon also feels like a dead project. That is how it appears to me anyway, with KDE you have Nate doing a weekly blog about the tip of the iceberg they are working on (https://pointieststick.com/) and that is so immensely helpful and gives you a confident feeling that you are using a distro that is actively being worked and and getting better with every release.
Regarding your issues, mine wasn't as bad as yours but I did noticed that if I wanted to move a panel from a monitor to the next, I had to do it slowly else, at the time (might be fixed now) the panel would crash if I did it too fast.
No multimonitor issues on X11. On Wayland it isn't as stable yet for me since I have a TV attached that goes on and off during the day and it is better now then in the past, but on occasion it would still crash kwin/plasma.
But Wayland is amazing though, extremely good performance and freesync support. Good luck getting that in the next 5+ years on the Cinnamon side.
But this year KDE is also focusing on making multi monitor perfect and somewhere this year we should also get a system where of kwin/plasma crashes on Wayland, your running programs don't die with it.
When they have that, x11 is as good as dead for me.

Quoting: LoftyI recently gave KDE a try after many years on the cinnamon desktop environment to experience some of the more flashy features seen as cinnamon has fallen way behind in that regard. I was not disappointed here, things like animated wallpapers are really cool and being able to play a gif independently on each monitor. Not to mention all kinds of transparency, blurs and effect choices.I switched from Cinnamon (on Arch) to KDE (also on Arch) for the same reasons. I was tired of the bad and lackluster animations on Cinnamon. I also had to Google for hours to find out how to edit a small theme to add a colored window border that was visible. KDE has everything I want.
But .. I can't say it went well really, neither on an Ubuntu base or fresh Arch install. Whats remarkable is how well KDE recovers from a crash, whats not remarkable is how often it has to recover from a crash. By crash i mean the panel resetting when you attempt to move widgets or reposition items, for instance dragging widgets to a second monitor could trip up KDE very easily but not consistently. plus a myriad of oddball 'paper cuts' And that is the same feeling i got for KDE for the last 15 years = lack of consistency.
-----------
" 56 bugs right off the bat, three of which are session-enders " i mean that's hilarious. They should of been doing this kind of work years ago. But id wager, that after this initiative ends and the dust settles, in two years time there will be "56 bugs right off the bat, three of which are session-enders ".
imho It's just not a solid feeling environment like the 'dull' GTK alternatives, it kind of feels like it's always waiting to crash and when you stray from defaults expect faults .. hey that could be KDE's new moto.
(to be fair i think you could apply this to Gnome aswell, but only because Gnome devs make it intentionally that way)
Of course Everyone's mileage will vary. Each to their own.
BTW Wayland on Nvidia was a train wreck and much worse than I remember Gnome being.
