Rocket League for Linux & SteamOS getting close to a release window finally

Rocket League coming to Linux/SteamOS is great. Period.
Like always I see glass half empty - I'm closer to tuubi's opinion - I would love to play it when my colleagues are playing it - and it seems it is past already.
Nevertheless we need this title like many others in our library. I'm just afraid that there will be next game of the same developer, which won't come to Linux/SteamOS because of the bad financial result of this port. And bad financial result may be caused by the fact that many people won't be so eager to spend 20 euro on a game witch was abandoned by their friends, so like tuubi (and probably me as well), many people will buy it when it's on sale for a price 70% lower then it is now.

Quoting: liamdawe@tuubi agree @liamdawe agree.Quoting: tuubiThe game seems really fun. Too bad my friends have probably already lost interest, and playing with random strangers isn't really my cup of tea. I'll most likely still get it but I might have to wait for a sale. Happily the Steam summer sale isn't far off. Then join in some games with the GOL community, I am sure there will be plenty ;)

After so much time I finally understood, that pairing Dualshock from UI in Ubuntu does not pair gamepad as Dualshock 4 but as a generic controller. Generic controller does not work with Don't Starve Together.
I've solved my issue by pairing Dualshock 4 using ds4drv application.

GOG Connect announced, add certain Steam games to GOG for a limited time

For me it worked out of the box (Poland, Ubuntu 16.04, Firefox). Trine, Shadowrun Returns, Saints Row 2 apeared in the library. Saints Row 2 is from the bundle, so it means that this is not a problem.
The Wine Staging Team has released their patch-set for Wine 1.9.11

Edit: Read the whole article, read about Denuvo, checked WineHQ DB, know the game used to work while being in alpha, so the game works, but Denuvo DRM does not. Question not valid anymore.

Do not sort the InMemoryOrderModuleList by memory addresses (DOOM, Wine Bug #40623)Does it mean DOOM now works? Or is it just fix for crash 1, 1000 pending?

Life Is Strange is coming to Linux & SteamOS by Feral Interactive

It means teaser "Drifting Snows" was about Life is Strange. For me it's weird and it is super disappointing. I was expecting DIRT: Rally and it looks it is not ported by Feral (maybe it is not ported at all).
If this teaser was not about DIRT: Rally I assume DOOM is also not the one that was announced with "808 SB12S" clue. Disappointing.

Good information have to say. First for over 5 days. Previous one was the fact that F1 2015 was released. Both good news come from Feral. I have to ask - what happens with other porters? What happens with Virtual Programming? What happens with Aspyr? Do those companies still work on porting games to Linux? It is super silent about them...
Feral Interactive are teasing another new Linux & Mac port with a new clue

I just took a look on the radar and have to say:
If this teaser is not about DOOM and Drifting Snows is not about DIRT: Rally, then I don't want to have teasers anymore. I don't like to be disappointed and I will treat other titles as disappointment.
What's more - teasers are fine if they are about titles to be released in future. But I consider "Very Soon" section as very near future. Very near future should be about titles, so I would know if I should prepare some money for them.

Editorial: Valve have not abandoned SteamOS or Linux, things are looking pretty good

When I see such an article I know that it is written for a reason - some people are starting to worry. Because there are reasons to be worried about.
First of all - I agree, Linux gaming is in a great place, a place that I couldn't imagine 3 years ago.
Secondly - Liam is completely right - all the points he made are valid.
But there are 2 things that I always keep in mind:
1) Valve does not make all the best for the SteamOS/Steam machines. Let's recall what happened so far:
- Valve did famous huge SteamOS titles advertisement.
The newest and the biggest title from this list (Witcher 3) was completely ignored by the publisher of this game, which for me should be super offensive for Valve. Second biggest title (Batman Arkham Knight) did not come to Linux (but it was not Valve's fault to be fair).
- Valve made a sale that allowed people to buy Steam Controller with Portal and Rocket League, which were meant to work on SteamOS. As we all now Rocket League still does not work on SteamOS.
- Valve have made super discrete launch of Steam Machines. If I wasn't following this site everyday I guess I would miss Steam machines launch.
- Some small things that do matter (like example from Beamboom)
2) Biggest titles are still announced without Linux support. Titles that are announced for Linux/SteamOS do not come to Linux day one or get updates not as often as Windows counterpart.
So while I do agree Linux gaming is in great place, I expect Valve to focus more on SteamOS. Because if Microsoft wants to force developers to use their store, it means that Valve has to have a platform, the one with huge library with decent titles, to survive. And approach in which Valve focuses on SteamOS and supports at least Dabian based Linux distributions may be the biggest piece of cake that will be left for Valve at some point. And it's up to Valve how big will this piece of cake be.

F1 2015 released for Linux by Feral Interactive, Nvidia only for now, port report, video and more included

@Homepcgamer @leillo1975 let be honest - currently Linux gaming completly relies on Valve. Alienware Steam machines are powered by Nvidia 860m gpu. Syber Steam machines use Nvidia GTX750/960/980. I would love to see those cards in benchmarks, including CPU that they are shipped with. Just to see what should gamers that decide to pick Steam machine expect. All other cards with mention of cpu should still be there. Comparison to Windows should still be there as well.
In console you know your title will run and it will be fluent. I would like to know what should expect people that consider console that runs SteamOS.
If on those machines it would be fluent - that's fine.

Benchmark scares me a lot. It was the same with Tomb Raider 2013. How can Valve bring users to SteamOS running console if all the games run so much worse then on Windows or on other consoles? (Steam machines are consoles. Period.)
Sony does great job currently - they do great deals for most of the games that have SteamOS version. On each sale you can buy Alien: Isolation cheaper than it ever was on Steam official store. F1 2015 was available on last sale below 20 euro. Saints Row IV is on sale below 10 euro on each sale as well.
I wait for a moment when I will completly switch to Linux, leaving PS4 behind. But ports have to be golden. 50% of performance is not good.
If OpenGL is a problem then port to Vulkan. If there are problems while porting rendering algorithms - invest time/money. Just please stop giving us not finished products.
