Valve teams with Komodo to bring the Steam Deck to Asia

Quoting: toojaysI hope you're right, but what's this rumour based on? And why would that DNS entry exist?
Not really a rumor more a guess on my part. Its based on previous communications from Valve where they talk about Japan and Australia being the next countries likely to be supported.

The dns check is another guess. I'm guessing that it will be EB Games as they have acted as a valve distributor in AU/NZ in the past (IIRC) and there are not many other likely contenders who distribute games and have a network of retail outlets. The domain name is based on the komodo domain: steamdeck.komodo.jp. It could just as easily end up at https://www.ebgames.com.au/steamdeck [External Link]

TLDR; pure guesswork.

Also worth noting that others are less optimistic: https://www.pcgamer.com/when-does-the-steam-deck-release-in-australia/ [External Link]

Quoting: PhiladelphusCool to see it expand, but wow, RIP Australia. I still feel a bit guilty since I reserved my Deck while living there last year when the announcement came out, since I'd never gotten around to changing my Steam region from North America.
I predict AU/NZ wont be far behind (next Thursday?) and it will be via EBGames.

I'll be checking the dns ...

Epic Games now supporting the O3D Foundation and Open 3D Engine

Quoting: GrimfistFirst Epic releases a Linux client of UE5, now they support O3DE. Valve's push with SteamDeck and SteamOS clearly got some execs in the industry thinking. And that's a good thing. But I still don't trust Epic...
Interesting to speculate on how other large corporations could leverage valves hard work to decouple PC gaming from Windows. There are may others who could take advantage of this decoupling to their benefit not least Epic. Tim talks about hating living under the windows yoke but so far Epics actions don't align with that talk. I think the steam deck represents a discontinuity, players in this problem space are realizing they have more options than they thought they did.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge releases June 16

My understanding is that FNA is an XNA Preservation project dedicated to providing a runtime for old XNA games to run on modern hardware. This looks like a new game. If true this suggests some developers are targeting the runtime for new games. Is this a trend or an isolated occurrence? Is using FNA for new games encouraged or discouraged? Perhaps EthanLee could comment?
