Well, currently Obsidian games are published via Paradox, which is probably a large reason why they have DRM-Free and Linux versions in the first place. Not sure exactly how buying a development studio when they already have a publishing company works, but obviously it works all the time (look at Bioware who used to publish through Atari, then EA got hold of them).

Nice, always good to hear.

The developer of 'Limit Theory' is throwing in the towel, releasing the source code
6 Oct 2018 at 4:39 pm UTC

Well, to be more precise, Star Citizen is A) no where near finished, B) Supposedly getting a Linux native client eventually...

Think they still make releases occasionally (I get emails about them) but it's still mostly just arena fighting and some ships. Game does look amazing though, but been following it for years...

BATTLETECH gets an opt-in Linux beta on Steam

Quoting: nattydreadWow I just played the linux version of this game and it is so much faster than windows. HBS have done a really good job with this port. I doubted them for a while but in my eyes they have brought out a version that is superior to the windows one in every way. I'm looking forwards to more of their games.
Interesting, faster how? I should play it some more, but wanted to try mods in GTA 5 (I mean who doesn't want to roam the streets as Predator, or Thanos, or Doctor Strange...)

Every time I push it, some little round shape orange light appear in the middle of the screen and the games don't respond to the key as the used to do...

40 years and still a newbie ¬¬
Ha, well I guess they could implement what the Mac has, you shake the mouse and it gets gigantic for a few seconds...

Set Phasers to fun! Stage 9 lets you explore the Enterprise-D from Star Trek The Next Generation on Linux

True.

“Hey, boss, look at this! These guys have made this amazing recreation of the Enterprise! They're really talented! We could get them on-board, maybe use what they've made as the basis of a game or something, put our marketing weight behind it, and take a cut of the profits! Everybody wins!”

“SHUT IT DOWN.”
Ha, with the exception of the announcement of the return of Picard, I'm fairly certain that's the owner of Star Trek's answer to any good idea... Don't get me wrong, I thought the first movie with Chris Pine was decent, the second one was so atrocious what they did to Khan I will never forgive them... though they tried to cover bad decisions with a comic book, still was just bad. The third was entertaining at least.

Discovery should have been done in the far distant future with some of their tech and how the Klingons look.

Stardock is planning to release 'Star Control: Origins' on Linux
30 Sep 2018 at 6:20 pm UTC

Quoting: tuxdeluxI was a big fan of the developer stardock , back when I was making my switch to the gnu-linux desktop. Not only was stardock not publishing games for linux, but they seemed angrily against the linux desktop usage. They were still publishing windows os gui widgets back then. I would be a considerable turn to see them supporting a stardock linux-build.
Of course they were, Window Blinds was one of their most popular pieces of software, and it added to Windows what most Desktop Environments on Linux had natively. I mean how many of their themes were based upon Enlightenment themes?

So here's the thing with promises. If they say "A Linux version will come." that's one thing, if they say "A Linux version will be released the same day as all other versions" then it is something different. Not sure what they did here, but the developers have delayed their releases for Linux for every game they've done so far, so not sure why someone would think that would have changed. Though to be fair, Paradox has a great track record for same day releases, and they were the publishers for this one.

I'm still waiting for Tower 57. Even the AmigaOS version was released before the Linux version...

Linux hardware vendor System76 has begun teasing their new 'open-source computer'

Pesky economies of scale if only there was a way to sway you ...

Sorry it's not an attack i'm just being facetious here. I know it sucks to have to be the ones that pay the brunt and the high price so that they can gain momentum enough to have lower prices but that's economies of scale for ya.
Same thing happened in the 80s / early 90s with computers. The IBM compatibles were expensive as hell until the demand for them brought the price down and killed off all the custom chip computers (Atari ST, Commodore Amiga, and in a lesser way, Macintosh). Now everything is x86 except ARM, which is slowly gaining some laptop install base.

If RISC-V can ride the open source hardware wave, and fix CPU vulnerabilities that x86 and most others with speculative execution have, then there is a decent chance for adoption.

Quoting: slaapliedjeApparently this did not fix the mouse polling speed for Neverwinter.
What bug is that? Can't find it on spcr... And I have 60 h in this game, never noticed it.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33643 [External Link]

I added the report there yesterday. Basically if you have a mouse that has a crazy high polling rate (like most gaming mice), it'll freak out and you move the mouse a little bit and it moves a lot, then creates crazy lag in the interface.

Lowering it to 125hz fixes the issue (which is probably why you're not seeing it.)

I started playing it again because I want to play in Ravenloft! My favorite D&D setting by far.
