Possible Paradox grand strategy livestream in the works, community input wanted
5 Jul 2016 at 11:08 am UTC

Whoa, tough one. I don't know if there's rules you could implement to speed up things? Or maybe agree on playing only through a specific period?

The only one of those games I own is EUIV, which means I could only participate in that one. However don't count on it - I'm not a big fan of multiplayer in general. In fact, because I don't own any of the others, I'd like to see you go with one of them, might get me interested :)

Have you reached out to Paradox? They might have experience with livestreaming that can help you?

Albion Online MMO final beta due on 1st of August

Quoting: minidouany suggestion on MMORPG that runs natively on linux or without much trouble through wine?
World of Warcraft did, indeed, run smoothly through Wine for me. But I would really recommend Albion Online. Last time I played it, it felt like it needed some work, but they appear to be quite productive. It was a bit too PvP-oriented for me, but I intend to come back to it in August, as lately they seem to be adding more PvE stuff.

And so it begins, the Steam Summer Sale is here

19 entries on my wishlist, every one of them has some sort of discount.. Mostly thinking of getting the EU4 collection (tho I already have the base game, I'm interested in a few of the DLC's, might as well get the entire package) and/or Tomb Raider.

Things I feel Valve need to address to help SteamOS really be something fantastic

Rome was not built in a day
To be fair sometimes you do need to push because other forces will push in another direction and unless you push as well they will make things go their way completely. Does that make sense?

Some thoughts on Shadwen, Frozenbyte's new stealth game available for Linux

I've been able to slip past a number of guards easily with time to spare while Lily decided to run away and hide in the other direction.
This sounds like I'd find it extremely frustrating. On the other hand, she IS a little girl and consequently prone to erratic, panicky behaviour...

Steam summer sale looks set for June 23rd

Let's take a look at the top 5 of my wishlist, then:
1. Tomb Raider - will buy at even a moderate deal - assuming performance stabilises by then.
2. Stellaris - might wanna hold off, as EU4 has sucked up too much of my time.
3. The Long Dark - it's still in Early Access though, so I don't know. Anyone know how well this runs now on Linux?
4. EU4: Conquest of Paradise DLC - Yeah I won't be able to hold off if they post a deal on this.
5. Trine 3 - Although the mixed reviews on Steam and the apparent short duration has me worried.
Wildcard: Dreamfall Chapters.

Albion Online MMO content update Darian coming May 18th
17 May 2016 at 10:31 am UTC

Crap on a cracker that is tomorrow. I've not been following Albion for a while now.
Themed furniture sounds awesome. I think I'd be more interested in the Keepers' stuff, though.

Totally agree on the next update being more interesting though! The video they posted on making the new world is good, shows a nice insiders' view and a nice preview of how the world is going to look.

Stellaris releasing today with day 1 Linux support, here’s my review, livestream later with key giveaway!
9 May 2016 at 9:17 pm UTC

The first night after playing Stellaris I ended up dreaming about it, and all I wanted to do when I awoke was play it. That’s really something as it’s very rare for any game to engross me in such a way!

...

literally hundreds of hours can be put into a single game
Hmm, sounds like I shouldn't buy this for a while then. At least until the summer holidays.

Quoting: ziabiceMy specs:
CPU AMD A10-7850K, 16 GB RAM DDR3 2133 Mhz
GPU AMD 7850 1 GB GDDR5
Kernel 4.5.2, Mesa 11.2.1, LLVM 3.7.1, libDRM 2.4.67
xf86-video-ati 7.7.0, XOrg 1.17
Driver used: radeonsi

Game was run at 1980x1080 resolution. Graphics drivers crashes if I run the game with graphics settings to anything above "Low", but benchmark works. On "low" settings the game suffers stuttering usually near a quick time event, making the experience very disappointing. Sometimes it skips entire sequences because of stuttering. The game isn't smooth, because the FPS oscillate.
Thanks, I have the same CPU and GPU, albeit with 8 GB of RAM and 2 GB of video RAM. Running Ubuntu with Cinnamon, actually not completely sure of my driver stack atm. This sounds like performance I can deal with, tbh. I can take a hit if it means I get to play Tomb Raider :)
