Off Grid gives you data as your weapon in this stealth hacking game, now crowdfunding with Linux support

Quoting: liamdaweI'm not sure how you're failing to understand this.
Likewise.

Quoting: liamdaweIf you back 2 kickstarters and both fail, that's a 100% failure rate. That's an obviously silly example, but I'm showing you how different it is what we're actually talking about.
And if I back 100 Kickstarters is it still obviously silly?

Quoting: liamdaweIf you gather statistics for all kickstarters that promised Linux support, that would give the actual accurate representation. I wasn't talking about personal samples in my original comment, which I what I am trying to explain.
And if you gather statistics for a random selection of Kickstarters that promised Linux support then what you're doing is sampling [External Link], a well understood statistical technique known to give representative results for the whole set of data (sampled and non-sampled) within certain bounds of accuracy.

You can argue my selection is biased (and it is, though it ought to be biased towards projects that had more believable promises of Linux support), but you can't argue it's irrelevant.

Quoting: liamdaweEven with the limited amount I've got on there right now, the failure rate is pretty low.
And yet still way more than 1%.

Quoting: liamdawe"Personally backed", that's very different to what I was talking about.
Not really, it's just that's the only thing I've calculated stats for. There's no specific reason to believe any randomly selected set of Kickstarters is not indicative of the general trend unless you want to make the case that I am unusually bad at picking them. What evidence do you have to back up your claim of 1%?

Quoting: liamdaweNo, it really doesn't. Out of all the crowdfunders that have been done that promise Linux support, the amount that fail on this is probably less than 1%.
Last time I calculated this for things I'd personally backed the figure was around 25% (this only included projects that had released at least a Windows version). Obviously I could just be really bad at picking the right projects, but I doubt the percentage is as low as you claim.

The Steam Play whitelist just had a large update including The Witness and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Quoting: EikeBut where is Valve showing these changes...?
In their internal repositories, details of which are accessible through APIs they provide. Websites can use these APIs to build third-party services based on Steam data, this is what SteamDB does.

Quoting: NanobangI mean, it's nice that they linked the steamdb changes, but why wouldn't they update their own list proper and just use that?
You have it backwards - SteamDB is merely reporting changes made in Steam/Valve repositories, it is not a repository in itself. In other words, SteamDb is showing the changes they made to "their own list proper", just in a more convenient format for the general public.

Blame IBM for not coming up with a more imaginative name for their personal computer than 'IBM Personal Computer'.

Total War: THREE KINGDOMS confirmed to be coming to Linux, port from Feral Interactive

Played this at EGX last week.

Also went to a talk about it where they went on about five elements and how these are used throughout the entire game (summary here [External Link] and immediately thought of the Feral Radar. Too tired and hotel internet too crappy to make a post about it the time.

Anyway the game itself seemed good, a bit different to other Total War games I've tried with the heroes and duels.

Feral Interactive are teasing something for Linux next week

I backed the failed Kickstarter last year and then backed the dev on Patreon [External Link] when he started up that alternative. Dev communicates well and has some interesting ideas, looking forward to see how this develops.

Despite promising an Early Access release, Crazy Justice is out only for backers for now and it's rougher than expected

Quoting: GuestThe game doesn't even launch for me.
The libsteam_api.so is incorrectly referenced, you can copy it in manually to get the game to run, some methods on this thread [External Link].

Quoting: BeamboomIt had to be some stock assets from the Unity editor being used, and more than indicated that they had a lot of work left. Like, a lot.
It's using Unreal, not Unity. Probably the same or similar stock assets in both stores though.
