The Gamecube and Wii emulator, Dolphin, implements “Ubershaders” to solve stuttering
30 Jul 2017 at 11:59 pm UTC

Much needed as any emulators for older consoles run flawlessly but, once you get into ~6th generation console territory, your PC needs to be really beefy to have a chance at emulating with minimal stutter. Considering the age of GC/Wii games at this point, it is kind of discouraging to see so much modern hardware still struggling. Thanks for reminding me to donate to the Dolphin project.

Quoting: Hamish
Quoting: TcheyI don't know much of it, but i prefer to use Python over GDScript, as it's a "real" language.
I know what you mean, but I can't help but imagine all of the older programmers out there spitting out their drinks at the sight of anyone calling Python a "real" language when it uses an interpreter. ;)

Everything is relative I guess.
I think he means that python is "real" in that it is not specifically made for & only used in Godot. Adapting to a new scripting language isn't hard but it is still a pain an inconvenience.

It looks like there is actually a studio behind 0AD development which would explain the quality that is normally absent from open source games.

The survival game 'Rust' has come a long way, I've completely changed my mind about it

Quoting: Mountain ManSounds like the perfect game for trolls and griefers. No thanks.

And while the graphics are nice, I think you overrate them quite a bit just judging by the screenshots.
Private servers when possible. Otherwise I would never play such games.

Ballistic has been crash-prone on me since their Vulkan update. Any mention of stability fixes?

Game store itch seems to have a problem with people selling pirated games

Quoting: HoriThat's not a solution. Devs shouldn't HAVE to sell their games on every single store out there in order to combat piracy...
You didn't get the point. It's not about "combating piracy", it's about reaching more people who are actually interested in their games.
Me being one of them, there are a lot of games that I haven't bought yet because they are only available through Steam. These "pirates" are doing a service .. or at the very least, a protest.

Steam -> Settings -> Interface -> "Notify me about [...]"
Heh thanks. Though this still feels a lot like "tweaking privacy settings in windows"... that is, sure you've changed some settings, but you're still using windows.
