Patch 2 for Baldur's Gate 3 coming with 'major performance improvements'

I'll be finished the game by the time the patch is around but at least its happening.
ACT-3 Baldur's Gate region is pretty terrible performance and I've even seen less performance with DLSS enabled in a few cases, the game just has some weird stuff going on that can bring a 4090 to its knees at 40-50fps 4k, even with DLSS.
Act 1 and 2 however seem mostly fine.

Well nvidia has to do something to get more DLSS and other exclusive features in their games.
They are under threat of developers just supporting the OPEN AMD alternatives which more or less work on all GPU vendor cards.
I would like to see NVIDIA open up frame gen and dlss3 more so it was easier for everyone to use it even if it does req special hw.

There is someone on patreon who is adding DLSS3 and FSR2 to games that previously didn't have such features. I can't be sure but I believe its handled via reshade, he even has frame gen working on games that didn't originally have support for it.
Point being, manual work is needed. You can't just toggle it on like FSR1 or similar methods which just use methods like TAA for upscaling.
These new AMD cards are NOT good upgrades for people using the 6700/6800 cards.
AMD has even made sure people understand these are for the 5000 series or below for upgrade. I see these as being almost like a 6700/6800 refresh, or a 1.5 upgrade in some sense since they are just barely faster and just more efficient cards.

Quoting: MohandevirJust out of curiosity, what prevents Valve from upgrading Gamescope's integrated FSR with FSR2.2 or FSR3?Requires extra data (vector/camera) which needs to be manually generated.

any DRM should only be runtime, never kernel/persistent policeman on someone's machine because that opens up massive security risks and also gobbles up performance.

The EPIC API works fine from what I can see under Linux with apps that utilized it, BUT it would be very nice if EGS released their store app launcher for Linux and offered actual Linux branches for developers to use, and perhaps a inhouse baked proton like running, or just detect whatever the user dumps into a runner folder or something for the windows games.
I don't believe its hard to do considering several open-source projects have done these things already and often its work done by tiny teams on casual basis!
They should also bring community features including a modding support in their app.

Lucky this is just a f2p game, nobody is technically loosing their license copy of the game but I do know some people like spending money on DLC and store items so that would suck loosing them.

Quoting: Guestthanks nvidia for not backporting dlss 3+ to my rtx 2000 series gpu, it is a good lesson for me, to never buy nvidia gpu againIt's due to new hardware components more so then anything else. I do hope FSR3 can work on 20 series cards in some fashion.

Now if we could tuck away support 10-bit (30bit) colour support, HDR, AutoHDR and extended multimonitor and VRR type support then I think linux would be in the magic zone.
Atm those things are very roughly supported, basically non properly working support.

Secondly it can cause issues with other graphical mods such as face texture mods etc..
The hi-res DLC has a lot of ultra high resolution normal maps that don't help things except make everything larger. Again, investigate nexus for mods that improve the pack or replace it for a better experience.
Lastly FO4 is getting a Next-Gen update sometime soon (unless Todd lied to us), so playing it now may be premature!

Quoting: fabertawehi-res texture DLCFor starters its NOT optimized which should be obvious given the size. There are mods on nexus that do a better job.
