GOG update their stance on DRM-free, Galaxy as 'optional' for single-player

Gone are the days of simple peer to peer or peer hosted server multiplayer. There are of cause a few still around but newer games are all going always online route which yes is annoying and I hate it too.. Can't change reality but!

Quoting: GroganI don't like multiplayer. Specifically I don't like being obligated to anyone else in any way, with gaming.Yes ok but just keep in mind MOST people play multiplayer exclusive games these days. So they must cater to both, and many multiplayer games need user account and purchase authentication these days plus anticheat stuff on top.

I wonder if No Man's Sky ever got Multiplayer and if so, can those players see Steam players? It was a HUGE issue with the game on GOG. Essentially you got a downgraded version of NMS on GOG with no Multiplayer...... for same or more price....

There are convenient issues with touch screen method of doing things.
One could certainly MAKE their own device with buttons and a touch screen in background, but it comes down to if you feel its worth your time and if your tech savvy enough to get all the bits together, probably also need 3d printing done.

Microsoft or someone can probably make a very easily to use X-MS-Cloud app so the browser isn't even needed. Much like how twitch and other websites have their own apps.
Me personally, I'd prefer if they do something with a launcher that let people run the games via steam-proton. But that might never happen.

Google talk about their 'Windows emulator' for Stadia and they use DXVK already

The days games often involve more then just the basic game. Many have mod management or similar launchers, anticheat, and then you have game mod support which I assume Google is just saying NOPE to which is a shame.
I love my 3rd party tools for games I play; would never give them up.

Stopped using Lutris since every time I enabled Mangohud it would hard lock my system up. Happened between MULTIPLE ARCH OS installs. Using Bottles atm, its full of jank but doesn't lock my system up with mangohud....

Ok but when and where is the Witcher 3 NEXT-GEN update coming?
All in all they are second to Steam when it comes to Linux support. OR 3rd when you factor in Itch store.
Really all CDPR need to do is release their launcher as semi-open-source on github or something and allow Linux users to compile it for Linux. (and add in Linux/Mac as install options, and probably proton detection)
Quoting: mphuZCDPR does not support Linux. They support it in the sense they have not done anything terrible to their Galaxy 2.0 launcher (like baking it against .NET stuff) and also they do support Linux with a easy script packaging system for developers. You can also select Linux as a platform on their website.

Here's some of the latest Steam Deck Verified titles including the popular Valheim

Allot of people were complaining that Valheim is a pretty terribly optimized game even for normal PC. Given its low polygon+texture art style, that is surprising.

Yeah Valve should probably collect up save files for many different sections of games like these to test instead of just doing a basic startup and first run-through test which isn't always a good indicator on if the game will continue running good.
I remember the original Tomb Raider game port (1st in remakes) ran good in benchmark mode and also in initial starting levels but later on had performance and hitching issues to point that it made it non-enjoyable vs playing the proton version (windows) now.
Some games do need launchers like ARMA-3 as it has allot of mods and options that aren't configurable in-game (because engine is limited and old as jank).
It be nice if Steam Verified games had a community voting system attached to them so people whom own the games and run on linux can VOTE/RATE the verified listing with ability to post a comment with vote. This way valve would get a pretty clear picture on if the game needs more testing/fixing or not.....
