KDE Plasma 5.24 is out now and what a beauty it is

Quoting: Sojiro84For me this is the best version yet.

Wayland is finally stable for me. I can turn my TV on and off during the day and kwin doesn't crash anymore. Finally my session doesn't die everytime I turn my TV on or off.

Also the new open and close animations for windows is very sexy.
I wonder if using Wayland would solve a nuisance I have. I have tried so many changes to get rid of the problem, I don't know if it's software or driver at this point. Shortly after waking my system from sleep, my side monitor will turn black and freeze, my main monitor's wallpaper will change back to what was previously selected; it stays in this state for 5-7 seconds, and then it recovers and everything is fine. Your TV issue sounds along the same lines... don't know. I run X11 on the main rig because of some Wayland limitations in Spectacle (maybe fixed now?) and auto-type in my password vault. Sounds like I should test those things out again after upgrading Plasma!

Quoting: OneSubtractOneI dunno if any of you have ever gamed on a laptop with a touchpad, but if you HAVE, you'll know how frustrating it is to be mid game, and hit the touchpad by mistake with your palm, and then die horribly cos your character is spinning or something.
Is this gonna be that, only intentional? Cos that would be horrific.
That's exactly what I was thinking. My laptop actually disables the touchpad for milliseconds at a time when it detects key presses. Not a good setting for a program like Blender, but I don't do anything serious like that on my laptop anyway.

But, if you're doing it on purpose, maybe it could be used to steer a car with an analog feeling instead of fully on / full off when you use keys. Or maybe it will be a way to make fun of people because the only use you can think of is adult games.

I once scored too high on a WPM typing test. In order to save my score, I had to achieve it again in a different session with various text. That was super annoying!

Something like that could work for players who get automatically flagged or voted as possibly cheating. Modern, multiplayer shooters have some pretty detailed player statistics. You could use those, maybe add player's camera angle and how much of the target's hit box was even visible, to form an algorithm to detect anomalies.

Sure takes the fun out of game development, huh? Well, it could still be handled by a 3rd party in the form of licensed software you package into the game or your game servers and feed its API data from your game. It's all behind the scenes to the player and will work on any operating system that the game's engine works. The game dev has to put some effort into implementation but doesn't have to "recreate the wheel" every new game.

Creative Assembly show off online play for Total War: WARHAMMER III

Gimme

The past games didn't have an anti-cheat problem, right? So I expect this one won't either. I want to play co-op, so whichever version -- native or Proton -- allows me to do that is the one I'll install. If neither work, thank goodness for returns.

The game looks like it would simply be fun to be in.

Total War: WARHAMMER III gets a nice long official Let's Play video

I learned from another site that more than 2 people (8!) can play through the campaign mode for the first time in this third iteration of the Total War: Warhammer series! I'm a sucker for co-op and this news makes me put the game on my wish list!

Quoting: aufkrawallBig fan of RNNoise in Mumble, works much better than Nvidia's crazy proprietary bloat that slows down your GPU.
Yes. That, and I like the attenuation. When people are talking, the other sound sources (games) go down in volume by 50%.

Microsoft to acquire Activision Blizzard

I think coincidental, right? Big tech shares declined over the last week in general.
